I guess they technically aren't, maybe it's because it's only 10 episodes per season that the 9+ month break seems like an eternity.

It's not. Wikipedia says so and points to an incorrect source for the data, but they ordered two seasons of 23 episodes before even the first episode had aired. That's 13 episodes for season 2. If you recall, this is three more episodes than Breaking Bad had by season 3. BCS is not cutting us short and seasons will not be only 10 episodes long. They had a short season to start which is industry-standard. Only reason Breaking Bad was shorter was because of the 2008 writer's strike, but it would have been 10 episodes for season 1, 13 episodes for season 3 just like BCS.

Great show! Can't wait for it to start back up again.

I was definitely a bit worried that, as a spin-off, it was going to go the way of most spin-offs and just suck and always have a comparison to the original show. They handle this deftly with BCS, as they thoroughly make it its own show that still has occasional references to the Breaking Bad universe. It doesn't feel like a spin-off at all, and the acting and story direction are perfect for the material.

Not to mention, Saul was one of the best characters on Breaking Bad, you always wanted to see more of him. He's the perfect character for a spinoff, he's just as interesting (if not moreso) as the main character.

It's not like he's Cleveland Brown or something... :p

Started watching this show a couple of days ago on Netflix, and damn, it's very good. I love the way they set right out to establish Saul Goodman as a completely separate character with an interesting backstory. The show struck out on its own path immediately, which is something a lot of failed spinoffs don't do (looking at you, Joey). Getting insights into Mike's past is frosting on the cake, since he was easily one of the most interesting characters on Breaking Bad. I'd say this show has the chops to hang around awhile.

I loved this show. The journey from a pretty straight laced, ethical person to scumbag lawyer is going to be a lot more interesting than I would have imagined. Even by the end of season 1 it was surprising
how many temptations he managed to resist.

Slippin' Jimmy was straightlaced and ethical? :)

I see it more as trying to emerge from an amoral and directionless youth and failing.

A guy trying to go the straight and narrow only to find out the reason he even does it is doesn't believe in him. I thought it was done great. Honestly, I think the show peaked. It may get funnier, but I don't see it being nearly as good story wise.

That's a good point. I forgot about Slippin' Jimmy. But that was before he went to law school and decided to turn things around.

You can see that keeping to the straight and narrow is a struggle for him. That makes the attempt that much more remarkable. I'm just curious how they're going to handle the decline. Is it going to be a long slow decline or is there going to be one critical moment. I'm voting for the latter since I think they'll treat it like a reformed alcoholic falling off the wagon and going on a bender.

Also, is the series going to stick with the prequel theme throughout its run or are they going to also get into his life after the Breaking Bad timeline.

I like how in Breaking Bad at one point he talks about ending up working at a Cinnabon in witness protection. And then this show opens up with a scene of him working there.

He also talks about once convincing a woman that he was Kevin Costner and they depict that too.

Breaking Bad. He was the loud obnoxious guy who cut in front of Walt for a parking spot and then pissed him off again in the bank. Walt blew up his red BMW convertible by using the gas station squeegee to short the battery.

Second BB callback for the week, when Saul scammed Ken out of the expensive tequila they were drinking Zafiro Añejo which is what Gus used to poison Don Eladio.
