Can anyone tell me why Jimmy's brother is a complete douchebag?

He has a very specific agenda against Jimmy to become a lawyer. But why? Is he that small of a man who's consumed by baseless jealousy?

I mean Jimmy was such an amazing brother to him. Why screw him over?

He is being a dick because he feels Jimmy took the easy way to become a Lawyer and Chuck had to work his ass off. As far as I am concerned, both passed the BAR, enough said.

I also think that, deep-down, Chuck is jealous of Jimmy's ability to relate with people and make friends. He hates that Jimmy spent so many years being a petty criminal and all-around fuck-up, but I think Chuck understands that Jimmy has natural talent that Chuck will never have which further allows Jimmy to be a damn good lawyer, without having to work as hard.

Chuck seems to be a bit of a misanthrope and so is a crabby individual anyway. He doesn't understand that success and happiness outside of his tiny bubble is ever possible if his brother doesn't achieve it exactly as he did (so, basically your typical ATer :D)

...Of course the expense and time involved with Georgetown vs Pamona State Upstairs college (or wherever Jimmy got his correspondence degree) stings. :D

Is he miserable in the corporate world? I don't think so. It's just that vindictive brother of his.
imo, he is miserable in the corporate world and his brother is likely the impetus behind that. Saul is a rebel, no matter how cliché that may be.

Have the last couple of episodes not demonstrated his core feelings? He loves to hustle people. Nothing gives him a bigger buzz and we all know that Saul Goodman, in BB, was a hustler/grifter par excellence.

This series merely shows how he got to that point.

And like another well known asshole, his name is on the building.

Chuck is an idealist. To the point of being an asshole.

All of the above.

He's even snubbed Jimmy in the past for the legal school he has went to, Chuck doesn't feel Jimmy even deserves to be recognized as a lawyer.

He's always been a SOB busting his ass, even though Jimmy had taken care of him more or less with his mental problems over the years.

I guess that's not really a spoiler, considering how long BB has been out.

I don't want to post any spoilers, but did you get to the episode where he aired it all out?

Yea, you mean where Chuck bitched Jimmy out just saying "You're not a lawyer!"

I guess that told a lot, but at the same time, didn't.

It told you that Chuck is a petty little bitch, which is basically everything you need to know. Plenty of people are like that, and it's really all that defines some people.

There was a clear-enough display in the different lives that Jimmy and Chuck had lead up to this point to sufficiently define that relationship, I think. Despite all of that, Jimmy still loves and respects his brother, and yet Chuck is still a douchebag (up until he learns that Chuck sells him out, of course). So it is.

OK, I've got it all figured out:
The commercial we saw was NOT the one that aired in Colorado Springs. We've seen the kinds of corny-but-effective commercials he uses in the future despite being capable of the one he impressed Kim with. We know what kind of reaction Davis & Main will have to that other kind of commercial. Jimmy WANTS to get fired from Davis & Main but he can't let Kim know that he sabotaged himself. The whole point of him taking it was to get back in her good graces.

The person Mike is going to be dealing with is probably Gus Fring-related. My guess is that he's trying to establish his turf/relationship with the Salamancas and it's leading to a clash with Tuco which probably results in the status we see in Breaking Bad (Tuco begrudgingly working for Gus but open to buying product from Walt).

That typography style for Davis & Main ("davis & main") did not become popular for a few more years. I think Jimmy was a little ahead of the curve on that one. ;)

University of American Samoa or something. Kim was wearing a sweater with the emblem recently. We've seen the degree framed on the wall in Breaking Bad.

As much as I'm loving this show, I hope it doesn't go longer than say, 3 seasons. Since there were first rumors about a Saul spinoff/prequel I imagined it as a miniseries. I just don't want it turning into the adventures of Saul/Jimmy.

I'm still trying to figure out what the deal is with Stacey. Why is she effing with Mike?

I don't see it going too long either. Jonathan Banks is 70 and not looking too spry.
Maybe they will transition to post BB Sual/Jimmy after a season or two more.

She's not. You don't know anyone like that? Once they get something in their head they are ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED. My sister is one of those people.

My theory is that she's a dirtbag who is taking advantage of Mike.
