Last night episode was so damn great. I love Jimmy's ways, always on the fly and quick thinking. The bathroom paper notice was funny.

Chuck is back I guess...but not sure what the future will be for him...

This is getting really interesting.

They already have a high-priced team of lawyers working for them.
...and, so far, that isn't working out.

They hire HHM.
Chuck is forced off the prosecution.
Brother is pitted against brother.
Chuck refuses to do something particularly nasty to win.
Chuck suffers the consequences.
Jimmy refuses to compromise on his ethics.
Jimmy loses...everything.
Jimmy decides to do what it takes in the future.

How about:

They want to hire HHM and can't because of Chuck already working with Jimmy
They and HHM resort to dirty tricks to take advantage of Chuck's electronics condition and make him go completely batshit insane.
That forces Chuck into withdrawing from what he's doing with Jimmy.
Jimmy plays even dirtier to get revenge.
Jimmy wins case, screws SandPiper royally and that is how Jimmy is brought over to the dark side to become Saul.

I hate that everybody is saying shit like "becomes Saul" and "turns to the darkside"

Just forced memories of the terrible prequels and really cheapens what the show has going for it. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it really ruined this discussion for me. Weird =/

If it helps, his stint with the skateboarders and the billboard scam aren't exactly on the up and up.

How exactly would you phrase it then? The metamorphosis from where Jimmy starts to where Saul is in Breaking Bad is pretty extreme. He goes from a guy drawing wills for seniors for $100 to a guy deep into drugs, money laundering and advocating murdering guys like Badger to keep them from talking. That's not like putting on a new suit and trusting to the power of positive thinking. He becomes a completely different person.

I don't really understand the problem. It's a huge part of the show. I guess if they intend to end the series when he "becomes Saul" then it's a bit silly but considering the title and what we already know, I think it's expected that a lot of the discussion is going to be about what breaks him.

He's bemoaning that we keep associating the two because he hates those prequel movies so much. I understand perfectly. He doesn't want to associate them. The similarities are unfortunate.

I can't explain it... like I said I don't know why it bothers me so much. Now all I can think of is Saul Goodman with his arms and legs shackled to a table as it slowly sets him upright... then he yells "NOOOOOOOOOO!"

Look, I know he changes as a person, but even during BB I always got the feeling he wasn't completely comfortable with a lot of the crime he was involved with. He had a feeling of what was happening, but he would rather deal with everything from the sidelines instead of directly with the crimes. He never wanted too many details (from a legal aspect, as well as a comfort thing). He had a lot of connections and his clients were the true criminals, but it always seemed like he tried to distance himself from it. He had an "it's just business" attitude to what he's doing, where everyone here seems to be painting him in the light of being a criminal mastermind... but in a world that involves Walter White and Tuco, Saul is NOT on that level.

If you absolutely HAVE to draw a parallel to star wars, Saul is more like Boba Fett. He's involved with a lot of shady shit, and you definitely have to set aside some morals for such work, but this is not some Darth Vader type of fall from grace like everybody is hyping it as.

Anyway, I really like the show. He's just a lawyer though guys, lets keep it in perspective.

Is there only 1 season of this planned? Or have they said? Many of you talk like you think he's going to turn that way at the end of this season and/or case. We don't really know that...

Well, we expect that he'll transition to "Saul" soon enough because he's *still* "Jimmy" and that doesn't fit the show's title. The sooner he gets into criminal stuff, the sooner things will reach Breaking Bad levels of tension.

The show was renewed before the pilot aired.

They ordered a second season before the first episode actually aired.

They had confidence based on what they saw from the show before public airing, and weren't worried at all about gaining a large enough viewership. They ordered a 13 episode second season. :)

I really like how this is playing out. Jimmy's brother being the one to betray him, building up resentment over the years, despite Jimmy taking care of him in his idiotic "condition". Much better than Chuck dying and Jimmy slippin' into Saul Goodman.

damn can't believe there is only 1 episode left. this show is great. completely caught me off guard, i was so skeptical about this show before it aired and it completely shocked me how awesome it is.
