Best/Worst Cable Companies?

Crono

I personally haven't had problems with my service (Cablevision's Optimum Triple Play) but I've seen a lot of threads and know a lot of people who complain about their cable company, especially Comcast. Anyone that knows of any better companies, or just feel like complaining about their provider may do so here 🙂

Cablevision is the fvcking devil.

Oh how I would love to see their headquarters down the road be engulfed by flames.

Comcast charged my bro $13.99 to DOWNGRADE his cable, almost refused to refund him from 2 weeks of downtime caused by Katrina, doesnt complete service calls. Full of fees, crap and poor service.:beer:

geesh..COmcast customer service is just plain horrible....it's worse than the non english speaking techs at Dell or AOL.

We have COX, Qwest, and Time Warner here in the midwest. COX is really expensive but they give you god like internet connection speeds and stability, great cable packages. Qwest i haven't dealt with yet, and Time Warner is what I use back in nebraska city and its great as well. stable and great customer service 🙂

I had TWC's Roadrunner when I lived in Brooklyn, seemed ok though was a little expensive at the time ($5x)

As much as I hate Time Warner, their service has been quite good in this town. I have had no known outages in the last few years.

Wow, is that actual speed? Mine is only 4Mbps down, and 1Mbps up (actual speeds), not that it's something to complain about.

Few weeks ago I ordered new cable service from Time Warner Cable. I got quoted a certain price for a certain package and it sounded good so I went with it.

Today they come to install it.

First they claim they can't put my cable jack where I want it because I live in an apartment and I need written permission from my landlord for them to drill through the wall. Would have been nice to tell me this two weeks ago when I would have had time to get it.

Well after hassling with that for about 15 minutes they figure they can run the cable under the carpet near the wall, its not so bad... first hurdle crossed.

Cable fires up, they show us all the cool channels. We are happy. They show us the bill. It is $50 more per month than we were quoted originally. We are upset.

We call the company, while on hold the techs leave.

15 minutes later we are still on hold and all the cool channels have dissappeared. We have the channels 2-20 which is exactly what we had before this "upgrade".

10 minutes later we get a CSR. We tell them first of the billing change. The CSR gets angry, not at us, but at the earlier sales rep who quoted us the wrong price, apparently they do this all the time. He says "F-king idiots, they get this wrong all the time." to my wife. This does not make her happy. He claims that his manager will call her back by 6PM. In the meantime, he redispaches the cable crew to take off the "limiter" that they accidently left behind to get our upper channels back. They are supposed to show up at 3PM.

At 4PM they show up and remove the limiter. We get channels 1-70. We are suppoesed to be getting channels 1-150. The techs say we need to call CS again. We decide instead of calling we'll wait ofr the manager to call us at 6PM and tell them then.

6PM no one calls. I get bored and start to play with the DVR. I set it up to record some of my favorite shows. This thing is awesome, I think. I record a show.

I come back later to view my show. But there are a bunch of other shows on the list. What are these? Apparently it has been used. The shows were recorded in may and june.

I look at the titles. My jaw hits the floor. My DVR was loaded with someone else's porn. Seriously there is some hardcore stuff on this thing. Lucky my son wasn't home at the time. We now have more greviences with our cable company, we use alcohol to sterilize the remote.

6:30 PM we call the cable company and wait on hold another 15 minutes because they never called us. My wife asks for the manager by the name we were given. They transfer her to a busy signal. She calls back and waits on hold another 15 minutes. By this time she is very angry to say the least. We finally get someone two levels up from your regular CSR.

She lays into the guy. Yells about the "F-bomb" (they pulled it up on tape to see if she was lying, but there it was plain as day), yells about the porn, yells about the service, yells about us not having all the channels we have, yells about the price. etc.

Talk about a fun time.

In the end, we end up with pretty much all the channels for the next year for next to nothing, internet, DVR and VOIP phone included. I suppose it was worth it, but man... how can you give someone a DVR loaded with porn?
