Few weeks ago I ordered new cable service from Time Warner Cable. I got quoted a certain price for a certain package and it sounded good so I went with it.

Today they come to install it.

First they claim they can't put my cable jack where I want it because I live in an apartment and I need written permission from my landlord for them to drill through the wall. Would have been nice to tell me this two weeks ago when I would have had time to get it.

Well after hassling with that for about 15 minutes they figure they can run the cable under the carpet near the wall, its not so bad... first hurdle crossed.

Cable fires up, they show us all the cool channels. We are happy. They show us the bill. It is $50 more per month than we were quoted originally. We are upset.

We call the company, while on hold the techs leave.

15 minutes later we are still on hold and all the cool channels have dissappeared. We have the channels 2-20 which is exactly what we had before this "upgrade".

10 minutes later we get a CSR. We tell them first of the billing change. The CSR gets angry, not at us, but at the earlier sales rep who quoted us the wrong price, apparently they do this all the time. He says "F-king idiots, they get this wrong all the time." to my wife. This does not make her happy. He claims that his manager will call her back by 6PM. In the meantime, he redispaches the cable crew to take off the "limiter" that they accidently left behind to get our upper channels back. They are supposed to show up at 3PM.

At 4PM they show up and remove the limiter. We get channels 1-70. We are suppoesed to be getting channels 1-150. The techs say we need to call CS again. We decide instead of calling we'll wait ofr the manager to call us at 6PM and tell them then.

6PM no one calls. I get bored and start to play with the DVR. I set it up to record some of my favorite shows. This thing is awesome, I think. I record a show.

I come back later to view my show. But there are a bunch of other shows on the list. What are these? Apparently it has been used. The shows were recorded in may and june.

I look at the titles. My jaw hits the floor. My DVR was loaded with someone else's porn. Seriously there is some hardcore stuff on this thing. Lucky my son wasn't home at the time. We now have more greviences with our cable company, we use alcohol to sterilize the remote.

6:30 PM we call the cable company and wait on hold another 15 minutes because they never called us. My wife asks for the manager by the name we were given. They transfer her to a busy signal. She calls back and waits on hold another 15 minutes. By this time she is very angry to say the least. We finally get someone two levels up from your regular CSR.

She lays into the guy. Yells about the "F-bomb" (they pulled it up on tape to see if she was lying, but there it was plain as day), yells about the porn, yells about the service, yells about us not having all the channels we have, yells about the price. etc.

Talk about a fun time.

In the end, we end up with pretty much all the channels for the next year for next to nothing, internet, DVR and VOIP phone included. I suppose it was worth it, but man... how can you give someone a DVR loaded with porn?

Par for the course for TWC.

Cable One is the worst I've used, Insight is the best.

Charter isn't that great, especially now since the service is so slow, but that's to be expected.

Cox's customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. The cable service itself is ok.

I have Wideopenwest. Outages have been rare over the past 4 or so years, price is a few bucks less the TWC. $30 gets me 4mb down internet, can't complain.

Charter sux. No cable for 3 weeks after Katrina and no word on when it might be restored.

Well, you can't really blame them for that. We just got cable back in Slidell a few days ago.

Charter blows. Their digital cable packages are WAY overpriced compared to satellite, and their internet service is very unreliable on weekends.

Oh, and the Charter commercials for DVR and Digital Cable are insultingly stupid. It's seems like their going after people with sub-80 IQ's with 'em.

I give a BIG thumbs up to WOW! Internet and Cable. They have been my provider since I moved last October. I had an issue with my physical line, it took a while to get it fixed (needed a line crew to bury a new line in my back yard) but since then things have worked perfectly. The price is fair and the bandwidth is good. The installer was very friendly and they offer good support with minimal hold times.

Before this I had comcast, which was ATI, which was TCI before that. Comcast was a bit pricier and the service was not as good. Comcast also had much slowwer upstream and slowwer downstream. (At the time comcast was 4mbit down 256kbit up, I got a 6mbit down 600kbit up connection through WOW! for less money)

Time Warner here in Memphis has been AWESOME ever since the change from Cablevision back in the early 90's. The solid service from RoadRunner & Digital Cable have been awesome, along with the local sales/support reps (phone and field), both on the residential and business sides.

Its sad that our wonderful service is about to come crashing down. It's a DAMN SHAME TW thought they'd get a better edge from the Comcast/TW Adelphia pickup:

The city I live in provides it's own cable service, high-speed internet, electric, and water.

As far as I know you cannot use anyone else for cable service/electric/water. For internet I believe DSL is an option.

The uptime is decent for the internet the channel selection is ok for basic service. The Customer Service area sucks the big one though...lol. The sad thing is that the people working in customer support are "my neighbors" i.e. locals working for the city. (The internet service support is outsourced to another company)

Rates are about the same as most everyone else pays. However, if I pay my electric bill in person I get 4 free light bulbs (per month). oooooooo :p

Bingo.

i'm payin' 29.99 a month for 8 meg down/768k up... i think it's a good deal

LOL you are so full of it. Virginia has the same deal as everyone else.

"$29.99/month for 3 month(s), ongoing price is $42.95/month"

I looked up virigina deals on comcast.com. That's the price of their internet.

You only have a promo special. Also the $42.95 is only for 6MB speeds...not 8. You have to pay an additional $10 a month for that speed bump.

You know, I would go a lot easier on them if they'd just make a freaking deal so I could watch the Washington Nationals. How hard is it to show the local baseball team??? Every other city in the US manages to do it, but Comcast just can't seem to get their act together and let us watch.

I think most major markets have blackout rules, don't they?

my parents specifically avoided comcast for bellsouth DSL in florida. apparently, comcast was THAT bad. my experience with bellsouth has been anything but positive. the connection isn't stable, the IP address changes every 18 hours or so... uggh. so i can't imagine how much worse comcast is... i really can't.

i love my optimum online triple play

You have a promo and you're passing it off as something else. Be honest and say you have a promo deal. Nice try at making your e-penis larger.

Ok, jackass?
