Use KDX or Hotline. They essentially use FTP protocal but allow resume and the servers are
easy to set up and you can get by firewalls by going through http proxy.

With one gig, your connection will sure get broken before you can complete your transfer. Try using get right software also It allows you to have simultaneous downloads of 4 parts, hence speed up ur download, and if your connection breaks, that you won't have to re-start all over. Cheers.

CD-R will be your best bet
nothing like a broken transfer resulting in corrupted files when you're ftping

Erm, SSH I meant. I used winSCP to transfer thing from my windows computer to my linux computer using that. IIRC, you connect using your SSH keys and the graphical interface is similart to an ftp. But yeah.
