Best way to clean a black car?

What in the hell does the fact that your father gave you this car have to do with how to wax it? If anything, it was included to boast. You've started whole threads about how your father was thinking about giving you this vehicle, etc. No need to include it yet again.

As far as Waxing - stop using a sh!tty wax and you'll be fine.

That was uncalled for. I am 17 anyway. But, that was still not called for. I asked a question, and did not deserve that. If my father wanted to give me a car, that was his perogative. I would gladly have went out and bought one for myself.

There's a lot of angry people on this forum. You should've known better. If you seriously wanted car care tips, you should've just asked how to take care of a black car and not included the part about your dad giving you an expensive car for passing your drivers exam.

BTW.. This is a very good site to get you started..

Black cars are so UNforgiving. You wipe them wrong and they will show streaks and scratches. If you truly want your car to look nice, you're going to have to do some research and try some products on your own. Basically, take an interest in auto care because there is no one-step polish out there that is going to give you great results.

Also.. If you end up taking it to your average joe-blow detail shop, you'll end up with swirl marks all over the thing from a buffer wheel. You either need to find a high end shop and be willing to pay for it or just do it yourself by hand. At least the wax or polymer application stage of it. Most "detail" shops do the entire thing with a buffer and that's how you get the swirl marks.

It's pretty hard. When I'm motivated to do it right, I usually wax it... then spray a LIGHT mist of water on it, then wipe that off.. then get a brand new clean cloth and buff down the finish again.. then wax a second time, and repeat above.

The key to getting a good wax job on a black car is to constantly change the cloth you are using to remove the wax, and even when you think you're done, go get ANOTHER clean cloth and buff again.

I went to the car show,today,and won 3rd place with my Camaro,in its class;
there was 11 cars there in my class.
The cars that won 1st,and 2nd both had New paint jobs,
Glad i waxed the car,last week. !!
