I like the IS 300 better than the Audi A4s.

As for the Celica, it looks OK, but definitely suited for women driver.

A used Corvette would be a good choice. As would a 98-98 Mustang Cobra. A 99-00 GT would be decent as well. Also, look at Toyota Supras and Mazda RX-7s.

If you want a muscle car, I'd look at a new mustang cobra.

If you want a sports sedan, both the A4 and the bmw 3 series are excellent cars. I've driven a base 323i and wasn't too impressed with it. A 328i with the sports package on it would be awesome. The only problem with the A4 is that it's about to be redesigned. I don't know about you, but I hate getting a car only to find out that it's been redesigned the next model year. I have a 2000 Jetta GLX VR6...fully loaded, it came out to about 25k. It's very similar to an A4 in many ways. Personally, I think my Jetta is a better car than the 323 (a 328 with the sports package on it would definitely be superior to my jetta). The 323 certainly isn't the best bang for your buck car. I wouldn't even bother looking at the S2000 or the Celica or any other Japanese cars for that matter. An S4 would be really nice, but I believe they hover around 40k. But for that money, i'm sure those suckers are well worth it. TT's are nice cars too, no doubt about it.

take your mid-30K and invest it in something and go out and get a normal dependable car. in about 5 years from now you'll get either a new Lamborghini or you'll be fixing up that dependable car...

hmmmm.... McLauren F1 or Diablo or Ferrari..so many choices, just get them all... INVEST WISELY!!!

That new Lexus IS300, though sporty, is a sedan. Just like the Maxima. Coupes are what you should be looking at.

The Lexus IS300 has that "click shift" thing but it will be avail.
in pure stick shift at some point.

Then if they make a coupe version they'd really be paralleling BMW's 3Series (sedan & coupe) which are the cars the IS300 (Known outside of USA as the Toyota Espressa or something for the last 2yrs or so) was deployed to compete against.

For Mid 30's or lower consider a used recent model Toyota Supra Twin-Turbo Coupe or maybe used mid-1990's Lexus SC400 sports coupe.

If you want something new not used there aren't as much to choose from compared to back in the days in the mid-90's. And many are bland looking.

These days SUVs own the market and less people buy sports cars/coupes.

The previous model MR2's are very very nice. Lexus definitly makes a sweet car, I'd check into some of the newer ones, the GS300 would be on the top of my list. Or how about a Mustang Cobra R (anyone got a price on these?)? :Q

How about a miata? It would be a lot of fun to drive, and with your budget you can turbo it to get more power if you want... Although it would be a little impractical...
