Best SNES RPGs?

most under-rated RPG (adventure?) game on SNES is Soul Blazer. It's fvcking incredible, although, it is pretty short/easy.

as others have said, zelda link to the past also.

EDIT: also, Actraiser was badass and is a mixture of RPG/Adventure. very short though.

FF3 tied with Crono Trigger.

Edit: Super Metroid might not be an RPG, but in my opinion it is the BEST SNES game overall. The replay value of it alone is incredible.

FF II/IV JP
FF III/VI JP
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (action rpg)
Mario RPG
Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 3, never released in America so you'd have to emulate this one)

Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest
...

...

...
No seriously, Final Fantasy II and III, and Zelda if that's considered an RPG.

My two all time favorite SNES RPGs are Super Mario and the Ledgend of the Lost Star, and EarthBound (Mother 2 in japan). I still fire both up on the original cartridge from time to time.

sheesh you people don't know your genres at all

Some people liked the breath of fire games but I have the cartridges and I couldn't get into them. I loved Secret of Mana though and Link to the Past was fun. I don't think I ever finished the final fight though.

Chrono Trigger is the best RPG for SNES. There is nothing on that system that compares.

I stated Zelda is an more of an "action rpg."

My faves are:

1) Secret of Mana (never played the second though... ROM time)
2) Final Fantasies
3) Zelda: Link to the Past (LOVE this game!!!!!!)
4) Chrono Trigger

Actraiser was half RPG, half action. You built up a city and stuff and talked to the people in the town. the term "RPG" is subjective.

Some people consider Zelda RPG.
Some people consider ONLY turn based fighting games RPG.
Some people consider Diablo RPG.

Those are all 3 different types of games, yet people all call them RPG.

RPG stands for "Role Playing Game" so it is pretty subjective.

EDIT: oh, and a PWNZ0R edit (for you talking bout zelda up a few posts). check out the category.

EDIT 2:

Again ... check out category.
And again...
But you got me on Actraiser.

ff3
chronotrigger
and if you're playing on an emulator and downloading roms, ff5 before you play ff3(6). ff5 is awesome, but once you get to 6, 5 seems slow and boring. the class system is great in ff5 (it's like fftactics and how you can change jobs)
