"We've set out to blow people away with DOOM III, and the demonstration at E3 was a tremendous success," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "People have now seen that in everything from graphics and sound to atmosphere and gameplay, we are creating the most advanced and uniquely frightening game ever."

I am very impressed with the game but I wonder what kind of chaos it will bring if the game fails to meet the expectations of everyone.![]()

Only one little thing puzzles me --- those enemies don't have any weapons! Will they just jump at you or what?

Some will have weapons from what I could see in the Doom3 video a while back. There was this one badass demon who carried around a mini-gun/chaingun. Most of them just physically attack you i think, or use fire or something

Looks more like Resident Evil baddies than Doom baddies.

Ok, looks great, BUT what kind of hardware is this REALLY going to need? Not the over optimistic estimates on game boxes?

Looks great but id needs artists who can work in colors other than brown and grey.
Don't own a console. Not the "type".Go back to playing your Gamecube.

I'm sorry if I offended the id apologists in this thread but they do have a rep. for poor use of the visible color spectrum!
It's a tough call to judge scariness from a handful of screenshots. Obviously, a level rendered in neon colors will not be scary. All I ask for is adequate use of non-boring browns and greys. How could Doom3 be taken seriously or seem scary
I must remind you Doom 1/2 were a rainbow compared to Quake 1/2 and still managed to keep the fright level quite high.![]()
