Honestly, unless Zagg has updated their line, its nothing compared to the dry adhesive protectors.
I've used static clings before, and I'm still happy with my zaggs. The orange peel effect is only really noticable when the screen is off, at an angle, and theres direct glare from a light. when looking at it normally, you don't see it. also, the grippy effect mostly wears off after a couple weeks. Mine feels no grippier really than an unprotected screen, so long as I don't use my fingernails (which you shouldn't anyway)
Also, with the static cling ones I've used before, they were really only good for the first application. Yeah, they can technically be re-applied, but it's never quite right the second time around.
I can honestly say that I've never "noticed" my protector to be grippy, nor seen the orange peel effect when I wasn't looking for it.
