No, but he was the nominal leader of the group, and by the time the series ended he was one of the best overall badasses in scifi.
 
The Lt. Rasczak in the movie "Starship Troopers" was actually an amalgamation of 2 characters from the book. The other character, who actually had all the cool monologues attributed to Rasczak in the movie, was Lt. Colonel Jean V. Dubois. Just thought I'd throw that out there. FWIW I voted for Rasczak.

Is there a specific situation we are looking for here?
Fleet command? Band of rebels on the run command? Goodhearted outlaws on the edge of society getting dragged into a larger conflict command? Badass in a bar fight command? Makes a big difference in who you pick here...

that show was great for a little while, but towards the end i couldn't handle the stupidity.
 
Picard is classic, but he never really had to make any real tough calls.

Adama is a badass, but he can be really hard-headed and frustrating too.

The #1 answer is Reynolds from Firefly. Got his people out of shit all the time, kept things going despite the problems, and was funnier than hell doing it, but also willing to make the tough calls when needed.

i love captain janeway. shes just amazing when it comes to being the captain on voyager. she definitely had the respect of her crew and she had her funny moments as well.

simply awesome.
