Best RTS game out right now?

I pretty much don't play any games anymore. But from time to time I want to play an RTS. Starcraft is fun but old. What's the best out right now (I know Starcraft 2 is in the works).

This topic was moved because contrary to popular opinion, Off Topic is not a PC or Console gaming forum.

SupCom and Company of Heroes are both pretty good, yet different kinds of games. I'd say CoH is slightly more tactical, you'll be juggling with resources more then with SupCom where you usually just build LOADS of everything. Visually they are both pretty good as well, but SupCom with a lot of units on screen will be more demanding. And in all honesty I like watching CoH better then watching SupCom, zoomed out, trying to keep track of all my units 😛

The warhammer 40k series, dawn of war and the like are pretty okay to btw. Definately worth looking into if you haven't allready, I think the first game will come pretty cheap right now.

SupCom, Company of Heroes, C&C: Tiberium Wars.

Honestly I use to be a hardcore Tiberian Sun fan [including a lot of friends] and played it for years. I honestly don't like the new one, I mean the campaign was top notch as always and was fun. However general online play is boring, most of the time its just tank rush, tank rush, tank rush. Oh well.

Supreme Commander I love, but almost none of my friends have a rig good enough to play it well so I don't play that much.

Honestly I have gone and installed Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne again. I play some 2v2, 3v3's with friends and DotA is really fun and gives the game a lot of replay value.

This isn't the usual RTS though, no resource gathering 😛

It is very cool though, been playing it since the closed beta, which usually was for american fileplanet users only 😀 Can't wait till the real game comes out in roughly 2 months.

Act of War: Direct Action or Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War.

Dawn of War is a little underrated in my opinion and Act of War is HIGHLY underrated.
Both are a lot more fun on the violence scale and the tactical scale than most of the popular games being played right now. Pretty innovative as well, and they actually feel different from most of the cookie-cutter crap we've been seeing lately. (Company of Heroes is the exception.)

They both have some good expansion packs too.

SupCom=BIG bang nuclear fun
CnC3:TW=Delicate tactical fun
CoH=Squad centric, old skool, pay-close-attention fun

I love all 3 but for different reasons.

Expansion pack coming out end of august called Kingdoms. Preview copy is coming my way soon hehe. But excited, a lot of stuff that in the end kind of made me dislike Medieval 2 should be fixed.

Dawn of War hands down. Probably up until Winter Assault.

Dark Crusade was fun but not that great imo.

Preview Copy??!!?? WTF luckyass. What publication you work at?

Also Company of Heroes is the best pure RTS experience, rivaled by Relic's other games. I'd say Age of Empires 3/expacks as well.
