The Beatles and Zepplin are almost the only two realistic choices.

The beatles have the MOST top fifty albums of all time.
Led Zeppelin is number 2.

beatles are overhyped..sure they are good musicians and couple of good songs but sure are not the BEST rock band ever.

Pink Floyd is a good rock band. Above average, but have to be totally on dope to "understand" their songs.

Led Zep.. well those guys you've got to be crazy if you don't like... they are the fathers of Rock.. (Black Sabbath being Fathers of Metal, and AC/DC Fathers of HARD ROCK)

1. Metallica (no band has grown so much and has so much range)
2. Led Zeppelin
3. tOOl
4. Black Sabbath
5. AC/Dc
6. Slayer
I also enjoy Cream and The Doors alot also 😀

I agree that The Beatles are/were overhyped. They've never been anything but an average band to me.

I disagree that you have to be high to understand Floyd. I was listening to and appreciating Floyd LONG before ever tried any sort of illegal substances.
 
Seriously. No one even comes close to the Beatles. Paul McCartney and John Lennon are the two best song writers of all time.

And Stairway to Heaven is the most overrated, overplayed song of all time. though Black Dog is a great song.

Bob Dylan wrote better songs than McCartney and Lennon. Dylan (IMO) can't sing worth a lick but he can write some great songs.

Most top 50 albums doesn't make anyone the best... just the most popular... or even just a band that is fairly popular that produced a lot of albums.

Heck, Brittany Spears has a top 50 album, and she sucks the big one.
