I need to go out and buy rechargeable batteries, please give me your suggestions of the longest lasting battery per charge.

I assume your looking for AA's.
The best are Powerex 2300's but I would go with these at a fraction of the price (per battery).
Tom
The voltage is a result of the chemicals used. Lead acid cells produce 2 volts. Lithium-ion...think those are 3.6V. Alkalines are 1.5, and NiCads and NiMH put out 1.2V. If you need more than that, you wire them in series - more than one cell is technically called a battery. AA's are cells. 9V's are batteries - 6x1.5V cells in one package. But I would be more interested in hearing about which ones are 1.5v vs the 1.2v that most rechargable AA's seem to be.

At that speed... how warm do those batteries get during a charge cycle? And related to that, how long of an overall lifetime do you think that they have?

the charger has a fan. the batteries are special so they can better tune the charge. only the ic3 rayovacs will charge at 15min. lifetime is the same. babying cheap nihms for an extra few charges is rather pointless waste of time anyways.

Tom thanks for the links. Can you recommend a charger?
Also how long do those cheap 2250mAh batteries last per charge compared to duracell alkaline which I've always used?

Sure I'll give it a shot.
I use Powerex 1800's so I can't speak of the quality first hand but I have heard good things about those batteries, I use a charger that's simular to
this one. With my batteries I can take enough pictures(160+) to fill up my 256mb card without having to worry about using the falsh and lcd, in other words those batteries should last a lot longer in a digital camera, mp3 player, etc... than the alkalines.
Good luck,
Tom
