My recent favorite has been Vitner. Their bbq chips and four cheese flavored chips are sooooooo loaded with flavor. MMMMMmmmmm. Locally, they're only available at Family Dollar (and cost $1 - cheapest chips that taste good). I got them one day when I was out haying - needed a quick snack and wanted some chips. I happened to stop at that place & realized I didn't have any money than the change in the car, which pretty much limited me to that brand.
Just thinking about them has me craving them.
Years ago, my favorites by a landslide were at a regional chain grocery store: Tops. Their all-dressed flavor (all the flavors blended together on each chip) were incredible. I don't think they make them anymore; at least I haven't seen them. I never would have bought them if someone hadn't had me taste one.
And lately, Troyer Farms potato chips did something to their recipe or something. They used to be pretty good if you were using chip dip. They were on sale a couple weeks ago (the best chips are generally whichever brand is on sale), and I picked up a bag. My DOG wouldn't even eat them. Maybe it was a bad batch or something, but my wife swears she'll never buy them again.
