I like Herr's and Utz's. Had a bag of Tim's Chips (west coast) and they were fantastic - I bought a case online. I don't care for flavored chips, just plain.

I think potato chips are like pizza in a way - no "national" brand is as good as your local/regional brands.

Pringles are not potato chips.

I still really like Kettle Chips.

KT

Pringles are reconstituted potato meal, meaning they were ground up then turned into chip shapes rather than naturally cut.

Most of fast food fries are the same.

Humpty Dumpty used to be the best but they got rid of them for the shitty Old Dutch.

Kettle Chips are win.

I hate Old Dutch, Lays, and most mass produced chips, but for some reason, Pringles are insanely addictive. I know they're crap but if I have a tube in front of me, I can't stop eating them :D.

Homemade > *

Usually just get peanut oil to 350degrees, use a serrated veggie peeler for ruffled long thin strips and 20 seconds in the oil or until golden brown. Place on cooling rack with newspaper underneath. Season immediately with whatever you want.

Also works for sweet potatoes.

You'll never go back to bagged potato chips again.

Yes you will, at least I did. I don't have time to cook my own all the time, so a decent bag from the store, available in myriad flavours, works just fine in a pinch.

No doubt homemade ones are nice, but not a complete replacement.

True. I mean if I'm road tripping or something I'll buy a bag. But in general I only crave chips for a day or two, so I make enough for my craving and that's it. For like a football game sure I'll make more. But I've never been a big potato chip fan so when I figured out how easy it is and cheaper I just started doing it at home.

See I love them, so I'd be cooking constantly to fuel my habit. :D

I don't actually eat that many, but they are by far my favourite snack/junk food.
