back in the 80's when the big name metal bands came to town, it was one helluva of show...

I remember the huge stage shows for Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Dio...awesome props 15 foot Eddie running around stage, endless Marshall stacks and a sound that wound leave your ears ringing for 2 days when you sat in the lower level (off the floor)...

to top it all off, those concert tickets went for around $20-$30...

n.e.r.d. knows how to work the crowd.. or maybe it was just my crowd that was cool.

ozomatli has a lot of energy.. no need to work the crowd..

I agree with the couple people that put Prince. That was a great show.

I'll add:

Atmosphere (highly energetic)
Rolling Stones
Motley Crue
Kid Rock (although i don't care much for his music)
Bush (came to my small midwestern college and they were very crowd oriented)

I'm probably going to have to turn in my man card for this.

Late last year my wife dragged me along to see Richard Marx in concert. It was a promotional concert staged by a local radio station as a "VH-1 Storytellers" - style event. There were fewer than 200 people in the room, and everyone - the crowd, the band, Richard Marx - were all very relaxed. It was a very different but enjoyable concert, and I have to say that he was one of the best performers I have ever seen live. Also, in such a venue we got to see a lot of his personality and he was really funny and engaging.

I'm not a huge fan of his music, but I left that night with a lot of respect for him.

Richard Marx? never heard of him.

I think motley crue. They were some CRAZY SOB's back in the mid 80's. Took girls on stage to play, drank what musta been 2 fiths each during concert and still sounded good, Ratt opened. meh...

Stone Temple Pilots (weiland is one of the best frontmen from the last decade, and the deleo bro's and kretz are tight)

Rage Against The Machine (no inbetween-song preaching, just straight up rocking)

Lamb Of God (don't know how blythe's vocal cords are still intact. adler is one of the speediest and precise drummers i've ever seen. absurd energy)

Mitch Hedberg (RIP 🙁)
