Any here ,have any experience with the Mililand 8200, i was looking at DTS-3500 from creative, which my friends has, but it sounds too soft and quite, even at max volume. So i was looking at the 8200, any one here have any input on it

thanks

I am interesting in the BA4800's. I am in a college dorm and my roomate's desk is behind me. Can anyone tell me if the rear speakers can be placed elsewhere? For example, the FPS1000 from Creative has stands as well as hole in the back so right now I have my front speakers on desk stands and the rear ones hanging on the wall behind my desk. I don't have room to place tripods behind me.

No, they really don't have anything on them to hang. I phoned BA a while back to inquire about getting a couple more desktop stands, because I didn't really want to use the tripod stands. Before I could even ask about the price, they had already taken my address and informed me that there was no charge.

Excellent customer service.

Anyone had the chance to listen to the BA 7500 (?)...the 300 dollar one? Man, I was all but set on getting the Klipsch's myself, and now you bastages threw a wrench in my plans.... 🙁

from what i remember, the bigger ba's don't have the same quality as the originals for some reason. somehow things got fuxored.

if you have good home stereo near your computer buy the patch cord and hook it into an RCA jack on the receiver, i just recently did this, one word WOW!!!!

Personally, I didn't like the 7500's as much as the 4800's. They just sounded not so "warm", and kind of shallow.

consider midiland S2 4100. no fancy 4-sat action, but the sound quality is well over the klipsch parts. not sure how it compares to BA4800 but it does have neodymium (sp?) tweeters so i am sure it has an edge in highs. as for klipsch: my main beef is horn tweeters. sure they can sound alright if they are setup right but unfortunately it aint hte case with the klipsch, imo anyway. if madcowz was here he would second midiland over klipsch anyday

HOw about the 8200's then? Any input? I'm hearing not so good things about the 7500 BAs on the Sound Surge forum as well. Oh well, my choice is down to two sets the Midiland 8200's and the Klipsch as well..

I never really had the money to splurge on a big bad home system, so my first set of real speakers was the Klipsch v.2-400. Although the Klipsch were nice, I recently purchased the Videlogic Crossfire system and I am loving these bad boys 😀. Again, I have no true home system so nothing really expensive to compare them to, but I heard they match home systems that cost much much more. Plus, gotta love the frontal headphone jack. I know the Videologic are out of the equation, but I figured I would toss in a personal experience for the records.

The problem with the Klipsch for me right now is the fact that I HAVE to order them. If I overnighted them with taxes (in Los Angeles), these puppies are gonna run me 360 dollars. That becomes quite expensive.

sold my promedias v.2-400 for $249.99 + $30 shipping. and i order the new promedia 4.1's - after shipping the price came out to around $295 😀 they should be coming in later this week, i can't wait 🙂

I can't say that my promedias ever distort. I also had a set of Boston 4800s in my house at the same time. I personally like the tweeters on the promedias better, they give a nice edge to acoustic stuff.

/me thinks that the people who say that the klipsch sub distorts or is too present have the sub volume all the way up and not at the "THX" level.

just auditioned both the promedias and the ba4800....both awesome. Went with the ba4800 for 135 shipped from emscomputing. promedias are great, but ba4800 + sb platinum 5.1 for the same price sounds better.

sorry to break it to you, the platinum doesn't do anything for your sound😛 It has extra inputs and software, and a bigger price😛

Well here's what I found.....

I took my Diamond rio loaded with some MP3's and went to Frey's and BB.....

Now maybe this is not a good way to test speakers because it hardly simulates game or dvd performance but none the less this was good enough for me....

The highly reguarded Klipisch pro medias were loud and powerful....especially the sub....But the bass wasn't tight and overall they weren't as crisp, clear, and tight as some of the other speakers I tried over a full range of voulume....

The only Boston acoustics I could find were the BA790.....I thought these were very good, they make me want to hear the BA4800's even more, which I think I can find at CompUSA...
The bass was very tight through the entire volume range and the sat's were crisp and clear.....While not nearly as powerful as the Klipisch the sound quality was much better

Altec lansing ATP-5.....These really surprised me.....The sub is very capable and the sat's use a 3" driver and 2 28mm cones so that's a sub, 4 drivers, and 8 tweeters along with bass and treble controls....They give really good sound although the downward fireing 3" drivers might be kind of hard to set up for surround sound... any way right now it's either these or the BA4800's(which I have yet to try)....

Midiland S4 4060.....These were ok.....well better than ok but not outstanding.....I really like the control module pod with the volume, mute, bass , treble controls....

I now have some THX bass test tracks....I hope I can try those at CompUSA..... 🙂
