Airplane was a parody of the airport/airplane type movies out at the time. Naked Gun is a parody of just about any film noir style cop movie.
 
Big suprise that Spaceballs is number one. 🙂
After that Mel Brooks started going downhill, FAST.
I think Young Frakenstein was probably better. History of the World (Part I) is great too.

Airplane was really good but I was born in '79, so I didnt see most of the movies it was trying to parody.

EDIT: Scary Movie 1 was OK. 2 and 3 sucked donkey scrotum.
