Best orange juice?

I agree low acid is much easier on my stomach, though probably not as nutritious.

The nutritional value of the juice is not significantly affected by the reduction in titratable acidity. If anything, it has a higher calcium level.

bottled orange juice from a grocery store is too tart... i miss the fresh squeezed orange juice I had at the resort in florida.

ya heard?

also, while not entirely orange juice, Five Alive is pretty good.

Mostly I buy Simply Orange or Simply Lemonade for citrus refreshment.

Ingredients are water, sugar, and orange (not the fruit, the food coloring). 😀

Simply Orange is made by Minute Maid, just a different label for their Not From Concentrate line.

Most any not from concentrate OJs will taste the same, I usually go for the store brand.

Yup it is but people don't know so they say it tastes better.

Quite a few of the store brand items are actually the name brand with a store brand label. Companies do this so they don't price themselves out of the more expensive market but are able to marginal cost themselves into a cheaper market for the same item. You would be surprised to see how much of the store brand stuff is like that.

The reverse is also true, where store brand items are manufactured by the store, and since they have the processing plants already regionalized they make the major brand products. Horizon Oraganic Milk is a great example of this. The label will say "distributed by Horizon", but local plants process the milk.

Can't speak for Simply Orange directly, but I would expect something as big of a commodity as oranges to work the same way. It isn't like they have a special formula or anything. Recent Simply Orange batches here are coming from Brazil and Mexico oranges, same as the store label brand.

Costco OJ is awesome, but the Costco here stopped selling it. 🙁

I buy Simply Orange or Minute Maid from Sam's Club now.

Florida's natural, uses only FL oranges, tastes fantastic, not from concentrate. I'd rather my $$ go towards supporting growers here, not Brazil.

I'd love to see proof they are the same product. While I understand it was created by Minute Maid, it is not the same product. Minute Maid is a from concentrate product where as Simply is not. That is like saying Blue Moon taste = Coors. While the parent company may be the same the taste and overall end product is not the same.

Either way I enjoy both Simply and Florida's Natural.

I've never seen Simply out here, but I do buy Florida's Natural Grovestand. Really, it's interesting how many American products (among other foreign nations) I can get here.

Sad part is the juice you get there is as fresh as the ones we get here 😎

What? nobody has posted that they make their own and its ten times better than anything they buy in the store yet?

I'm usually the one annoyed at the elitist home made guys... but srsly.. i haven't had an OJ that comes close to home squeezed, and I'm absolutely baffled as to why.

Although I still do enjoy store bought ones. They just taste a lot more bland and bitter.

Haha. Well you know they have to ship something back here after the cargo ships go over and drop off your plastic electronic crap.

Hmmmm... yesterday I bought French made salami, American made beer, American made cheese. There were raspberries, strawberries and blueberries from America. Oranges from Sicily and Spain. American apples.... Thai mangoes... Taiwanese pineapples... Kiwi from New Zealand... milk from Australia... Hell, one week I found milk from California that was a cheap as the local stuff. I can even find Bob's Red Mill steel cut oats and American made Lay's potato chips. I think the only American brands that I get here that are actually made here are the soft drinks.

It would be nice to find Simply Orange though. You guys keep talking it up. Interestingly enough though, Minute Maid juice here is sugarfied juice drinks. They don't sell the actual juice product. I have to go to an imported juice like Tropicana or Florida Natural to get pure juice.

I think that all orange juice that is not fresh squeezed from tasty oranges (better if they're red oranges) sucks. It has that bitter aftertaste which is just shit, it's because they put the peel in the juice too.

Well, so called pure juice is really reconstituted juice, not quite concentrate, but not the same thing as you taking an orange and squeezing it either. that was what I was referring to when I said you get the same "fresh" juice as we do.

I'd have to go with Simply Orange as well. As others have pointed out, their apple juice and limeaid are like liquid crack.

Dave

As long as it is not from concentrate, it will be good; Those that are concentrate will have similar taste/flavor. The same goes with those on the other side of the line.

Tropicana has similar taste to Simply. Both costs about the same and not much more than the concentrate (unless you get a store concentrate)
