Best music player for Windows 7?

I've been using WMP since I got my laptop but of course, in typical Windows style, its' developing "problems". I bought songs yesterday from Amazon.com and they played fine and I transferred them to my Sansa just fine. Today I fire WMP up and go to play those songs and I get the "WMP cannot play the file" box. Argh. Time to get better player.

Any suggestions? And No, I don't want iTunes...

I like the zune software personally, but if you want to stay away from MS software, J river media jukebox is decent.

+1 on J River. I own media center, but Jukebox is great. The only downside is they removed the online album art tool from Jukebox (still in Media Center).

I never got away from Winamp. Winamp for audio, MPC for video. Has never failed me!

Foobar is nice. VLC (lightweight) or WinAmp (bloated, but lots of functions) are good alternatives.

I normally use Foobar 2000 as my default, but while setting up my new SB system, I tried VLC player a bit and it wasn't bad. Not much to it and I had it installed for video anyway.

I used Winamp for a decade and watched it turn into a bloated POS. When I jumped to Windows 7 I started using WMP12 and surprisingly I like it.

Have always used Winamp since college. Lightweight for me and just works. Anybody have any reasons why Foobar is better? Obviously it's pretty popular...

I like the simple interface, and it works extremely well with the way I organize my music. I organize my music by folder, and Foobar is perfect with that setup. If you're a tweaker, the interface can be heavily customized, and made into anything you like. I use one of the default interfaces. It doesn't have to look super pretty for me.

MediaMonkey...not bloated or resource-intensive, as simple/complex as I want it to be, great auto-tagging features, impressive music management options.

+1 for MM

jr media center. especially now at version 15. it is flat out awesome. it opens lightning quick now. its always been extremely stable, and i dont think there is a better program to organize your music. its tagging abilities leave no desire for any other program, it handles ipod's better then itunes does imo, and the party mode is nice too.

it does cost some money ($40 i think?), and i almost never use pay-for software, but i have been a recurring subscriber now for 5 years. whats nice is jr gives returning uses big discounts, so i only end up paying $15 a year to use the latest version.

also, the online forum support is 2nd to none. maybe someday someone will come up with a free program that compares, but for a long time now there is nothing even close. imo!
