Is the 940B better than the FP91G+? Anyone seen it in person? Well the FP91G+ uses an AU Optronics panel while the 940B uses a Samsung panel...so there's bound to be some differences. If I recall, most reviewers gave slight nods to the AU Optronics panels.
 
okay, so its between the 940b/FP91G+ group....
and the ViewSonic VA1912
really drawn to widescreen lol guess im a widescreen whore

but if the other two are worlds better than I'll go for them.
 
Yah i found out the benq used AU optronics in the site you gave me xtknight. I dont really know if one is better than the other, but i kno that samsung is a more trusted company when it comes to lcd's and all of the specs on the samsung are better, viewing angles, brightness, contrast ratio etc. Plus what drew me to the samsung was the thinner bezel look which i found to be more attractive. I would still suggest the 940b to you, dont go for the VA1912 trust me widescreen isnt that great on a 19".
 
well i wont lie it is probably gonna be a pretty sweet panel now that i think of it. I saw the VA912b that is like its non-widescreen version at comp usa and it was beautiful. The pictures dont really do any of them justice, it makes the monitors look kinda ugly. Just go down to BB or comp usa today and take a look, you'll probably see everything weve discussed here(except the benq).
 
well the 912b is a PVA panel, is it not? it seems to be a different monitor altogether, not what I'd think when the model number is so close.

looking at the manufacturers website, its an 8ms panel and looks just like the 1912. newegg just says the 912 is a 20ms panel, which its not.
hmm seems to get good reviews
 
I purchased the BENQ FP91G+ for under $300. It is great, and I do photo-editing and gaming. I am very pleased of my purchase. Linky

the glass-screen combines to make it look just like any CRT, and its beautiful.
im awestruck, and it seems the ghosting is minimal (my informal test includes moving a window back and forth across the screen lol )
colors are vibrant as hell and seem excellent

its the monitor to beat. I really intend to try and get it, but cost might really be a big issue. what monitor can match it? does the BenQ match it?
 
Did you actually go to the store to look at the monitor? Yes Xbrite is beautiful however you are sacrificing 2 inches and paying $30 over budget. Nothing can really match the coating except for NEC's monitors which have opticlear but probably even more pricey, other than that coating there is nothing special offered here in specs over other TN panels. I told you that you would fall in love with them 🙂 (its everyones natural reaction). The colors are better but i would suggest holding out on these monitors until they get cheaper and the glare is improved, but wtv its all up to you in the end.

i like style too, im one that will pay more for a little class
and well, the sony just looks sweet
and that coating does make an image look so much different, like a CRT's picture, but way more sharp. if i can pay it, I probably will end up paying it. other LCD's looked too close to the regular color of my laptop's LCD, which is nothing special. Maybe it was just bad configuration, but a monitor should be good out of box. Who knows, its all going to come down to money.
And I likely won't buy the BenQ anyhow because its 19" and has a .29pitch, I'd prefer the .26pitch. So deciding on a 17" as a backup if I cannot get the Sony is probably the next goal on the agenda.
 
Haha, I've been having the same dilemma lately. I had a hard time deciding between the 940b and that Sony HS75P/B. Going with the eye-candy, I had to choose the Sony even though it meant sacrificing 2 inches. A warning though, I've been reading up on that monitor a lot and most people say the top section of the screen seems a bit darker than the bottom, but it isn't too big of a problem unless you're heavily into graphics or photo editting. I'm going to just be browsing the web and playing games on it (Glad it has 8ms response) so the darkness issue won't be too big of a problem for me. Other than that, I've been hearing nothing but great reviews about the clarity of the monitor.
 
I'm in the market for EXACTLY the same thing you are, sir....'cept I don't wanna go smaller than a 19".

Regardless, I'm glad to see that there exist choices OTHER than the l90d+ which was all I was hearing about for a couple months 🙂
 
i got this during their last sale and i like it better than my l90d+.

aside from the terrrible stand selection of course, which doesn't bother me as i wall mounted it.
