Best kind of deli sandwich ingredients?

Mine is actually quite simple. I prefer toasted parmesan bread with one or two slices of thick grilled ham topped with melted mozarella cheese and lettuce. Nothing else except maybe sprinkle some pepper and/or other spices.

it depends on me. If i want a cold sandwich, i'll go for tuna w/ tomatoes, pickles, some mustard, salt-and-pepper.

Why would you go for nasty corned beef when you could go for steak?

Mine: A baton (foot long baguette), buttered with garlic butter, then salad (Lettuce, onion, green,yellow and red pepper) onion, ghekins, loads of jalapinos (sp?), then very thinly sliced hot steak, finally with a suce of choice, possibly mayo or thousand island.

Not That is a proper sarnie.

I love a good sandwich, I would say the best ones I have ever had are at a place called mothers in new orleans, god my mouth waters thinking of their po boys.

If it's on some kind of artisan bread it's NOT a deli sandwich.

I prefer the split decision - hot corned beef AND pastrami on rye. With cheese. I don't care if it's a special, a reuben, or just mustard.
If you live near Edison, NJ, you should stop by Harold's NY Deli. It's amazing.

I also like Monte Cristo. Especially the deep-fried one at Bennigan's.

A good sandwich is a good sandwich I don't think anyone cares if its considered an "official" deli sandwich or not.

Almost everyday I make myself a sandwich consisting of bologna, ham, turkey, colby-jack cheese and spicey mustard on a which bun. Tastes great and filling...less than 500 calories.

If I want a deli sandwich, I go to a deli. Rye bread or crusty rolls, basic meats, lettuce, tomato, onion, peppers, basic cheeses, mayo, mustard, or olive oil.

If I want raspberry ham with fresh mozzarella, arugala and pesto mayonnaise on asiago ciabatta bread, I go to an arsty (and usually overpriced) sandwich joint.

Yup... but I don't like sauerkraut. 🙂

But...along those lines... I do like a "Dinty Moore" (at least thats what they call it at the sandwhich shop I frequent).

It's a Reuben but with cole slaw instead of sauerkraut.

You have to understand such differentiation is native to the NY/NJ area, and the sandwiches are crappy anyway 🙂

hmm to be honest when someone says a deli sandwich i think of thin sliced meat and cheese.

i don't care if itsa official sandwich or not. i will throw diffrent meats and cheese on diffrent bread to see what i like. pretty much anything makes me happy heh. well some of the "california style" i wouldnt touch.
