OK... I got rid of the sidebar, discovered mouse movements, and have been prettymuch sold on opera after about 12 hours.
But I just noticed something: the
smiley doesn't actually roll... he just sits there looking down like he's sad.

Hey, I was going say those things, now I've got nothing to say.
I just installed Linux and started using Mozilla, but AT Forums don't appear correctly. They don't take up the whole width of the screen. They take like 300 pixels, it is so crunched together. What is going on?
Does Mozilla have support for mouse gestures? I've been using Opera for the last few months and there is NO way I'm going back to IE. IE is incredibly slow, crashes a lot, doesn't follow w3c standards etc. The password handling in Opera works much better than in IE IMHO.
Mouse gestures is what I miss most when I'm forced to use IE.

I've been a die-hard Opera fanatic for five years but since the 7.x version has come out I've cooled towards Opera. Too buggy in all its incarnations and noticeably slower than Opera 6.0x. I love the tabbed browsing and the speed of Opera though.
My new favorite is Firebird. Started messing with .5 and have been using .6 since the day it was released. It's faster than Opera 7.x and less buggy.

The text-link extension for moz. firebird is wicked. Just highlight any word on a web page and voila! a new tab with google search results in a new tab. Also the flash-click-to-view extension is a lifesaver for me as my homepage (a newspaper site) has annoying flash ads.
Firebird seemed much slower than Opera.. Maybe it's my computer that sucks..

These were kind of my initial expressions: Less settings to play around with in the settings dialog, I couldn't find out how to make mouse gestures work, if I mark a word in opera I can do the following things: Search, Search with different search engines,dictionary, encyclopedia, translate and go to url.
It's quite possible that these things is available in firebird as well, if they are please let me know how to access them

Maybe when I get my new computer....Having the dictionary/translation functions in Opera sounds very useful (moz. firebird doesn't have them so I have quick links at the toolbar for a translation and a dictionary sites). But the search function and the ability to go to the url is available in moz. firebird.
I think the cool thing about moz. firebird is that it's very light. It's just a core browser w/ few features built-in. But there are what's called extensions that can add certain function to the browser. The use of extensions allows each user to selectively add whatever function is needed for that particular user. And these extensions are really small files that hardly take up any disk space.
The mouse gestures are added by using an extension called "Mouse Gestures". There's another extension that bundles various mouse-related functions called "All-in-One Gestures" which also has mouse gestures. I use about 9 different extensions. In addition, there are lots of nice looking themes that goes well w/ windows visual styles. When you get a chance, take a look here for the extensions and themes. Also, there are "unofficial" nightly builds optimized for p2/p3 processors (slower machines) which have received very good responses from the users w/ older machines. It's called "unofficial" because it's built by one of the mozilla forum members rather than the official mozilla staff. More information about the nightly builds can be obtained here.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, I wasn't aware of the extensions thing. Sounds kind of like miranda (beats ICQ big time).
