Best home theater ever!

The guy has money, but no taste. Holy fvcking gaudy, batman.

That said, if I ever become incredibly rich I will have the pimpest home theater around and post pics on the net so people get REALLY jealous 🙂

It's not actualLY THAT pimp. I think I've seen better 😛

After looking through the "completed" gallery, my first thought was how extraordinarily ugly the room was. Then I went back and looked through the "in-construction" galleries and got a new found appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into the trim. Everything was fabricated custom for this installation. What a crazy amount of man-hours.

1) It's still ugly though.
2) All that money spent and he buys the Marantz projector? It says it took him two years to finish the theater room. The irony is, the projector was discontinued by the time the theater was completed. Should have left some of the technology decisions to much later in the project. He should have bought a Qualia.

For those of you harping on how tacky it is he addresses that issue in his FAQ:

"#4: Yuck! That's so tacky, over the top, and cheesy!

Even though that's not really a question, I'll respond by saying "Yeah! Of course it is!" This isn't meant to be a room that you live in, or sleep in, or work in. The rest of the house can be decorated tastefully - but the whole intent of this room was to be "over the top" in a "Las Vegas meets old-style movie palace" kind of way. It's sensory overload by design. Some people prefer simple, muted, purely functional designs for their home theaters. And that's just great for them. I wanted something crazy, not tasteful. I wanted a room where my friends would walk in, start laughing, and say "Dude - you are NUTS!" And that's pretty much the reaction I get. 🙂"

Gee do you think he Photoshopped all the Yoda frames onto the screen? And yeah, that's very gaudy, I'd be more for the modern look. And I wish he had focused more on the technical and electronic specs.

All the lighting is spectacular though, but I don't know why they didn't have pictures of the dome with the fiber optics on.
