My brother and I were big fans of Back Oriface back in mid-late 90s. Then all of a sudden everyone got knowledgeable about trojans and backdoors.

They called themselves Masters of Deception, targeting US phone systems. The group hacked into the National Security Agency, AT&T, and Bank of America. It created a system that let them bypass long-distance phone call systems, and gain access to private lines

they are the only ones I know of who weren't captured. 10/10 in my book

Back in the day, there was a shareware quake cd that had the full version of the game that you could put a code in after you paid for it that made it the full version.

They also put ALL their games on the CD that worked the same way.

A hack was released that allowed one to access all them games full versions for free.

I thought they got caught as I found this article here on the bottom of page "The MOD and LOD Squads"

I will admit, that I got my first computer in 1994/95 and remember hearing about cDc (Cult of the Dead Cow) who were famous for the Back Orifice prog, and that was the first one to hit me.

I remember hearing of a hack that would crank up data transfer in some port of your computer which would get hot and potentially melt. I've never actually seen it or heard any real details... myth or what?

Back in the day back orifice was always a laugh, as was sub 7... always good fun.
