Yeah, it's a V6, you can tell by the wheels at the end. That car makes a whopping 145 horsepower.

My 12 years old 1.2 tons Wolkswagen has 90HP. 145HP is not something a "american sport car" should be proud of.

You do realize the base Mustang has NEVER been marketed as a sports car right?

Who said anyone was proud of it? They make the v6 for one reason. Women.

I think if he had a faster car, the cop cars couldn't follow him -> no 360° turns -> everyone could get away. No? The reason for the spins was that the car was too slow, right?

No, I had no idea. American car, soft top, two doors - this seemed like the recipe for a sport SPORT car...

Calin

Hmmm... thinking of that, I heard "horror" stories about police cars having 400 HP under the hood... It quite looked so in the movie.

The GT and Cobra are pushed as the "Sport" models. The base Stang is just.... a car really.....

yeah, but if the car was a Cobra R or something, the police couldn't follow him, hence, they could never hit him, right? And if they never hit him, no OMGWTFBBQ 360° spin.

And if they could not reach him, no movie. So this time the ones who won are us 😉

Calin

If the car was something... there aren't many (even new) cars that would outrun even an older police highway cruiser. But yes, there is a possibility, against which the police will protect by creating road blocks.

Sorry, I grew up in a country (Romania) where there was one "widespread" automobile builder, and you could choose any one of the one model with anyone of the 1 engine.
And to my shame, I heard of Mustang GT...

Thanks for the informations

Trabant Power! 😀

Man, if I was one of those cops I'd be standing on the guys face at the end of the chase. I like how the news cameras zoom in on the swarming cops to potentially catch some beating going on.

Still trying to figure out why the cops thought it would be a good idea to spin him around on the freeway at 80-90mph.

I thought it was even more awesome that three cop cars nudged him with so much precision as to disable him - it truly gave the nagging feel of a video game where your adversary attacks methodically even while predicting your every move. I've usually noticed that you need to do something really random to fool the game temporarily. But yeah, coming out of two 360 degree spins like that on a highway - it's shame - he would've been an awesome driver to have in a bad road situation (except unless you were stealing the car along with him 😛 )

Well, cops practice this sort of maneuver.

Cop cars are big sedans with beefed up suspension and powerful engines. A cop car would easily do 140mph and they are usually kept in excellent running condition with good tires and suspension. Top speed of a Mustang GT is around 150 if you're lucky.

Wow! That was impressive!

I was half expecting the guy to jump out of the car and run for awhile before being caught, jumping out of the way of police trying to tackle him.
