Logitech MX300 or MX500 (depends on your preference of shape) I personally use the MX500

I've got a MX700 and play games all the time. I havent experienced any skipping and it doesnt lag at either. Only downside to this mouse is its weight, doesn't bother me any but to some it might.

I too love my Logitech Dual Optical.:)

I have the original Microsoft Intellieye Explorer and it's by far the best mouse I've ever used, especially for games.

I will never go back to ball mice again because they totally blow.

the 5 buttons are perfect in shape and location and it's not big and bulky like other explorer models (they suck - totally massive, difficult to game with)
I would also recommend the MS Optical non-explorer. I have one and it is great for gaming (I've used it for MOHAA, Q3, and BF1942). Never had any skipping or sluggishness. I've never used an Explorer for gaming, but I got the Optical over the Explorer because it felt lighter and I prefered having side buttons on the left and right instead of both on the same side.

Warning: if you haven't used a mouse with side buttons before, you will accidentally click them about 100 times in the first several days. But after a week, you will love it and will not know how you lived without side buttons.

I love the MX500.

I also have 2 Razer 2000's. And I would not recommend going with them. The company has been
out of business, more than it has been in business. They did a first production run, went broke,
never released an XP driver, got funded, did a second batch, and are broke again. I don't expect
to ever see a XP driver.

In my opinion, the DPI is better with the Razer, but the MX500 is really close for a optical. And the
MX 500 is much more comfortable for extended use.

I used to use the white Logitech Mouseman+ ball mouse which was great because of its shape (the best), but unfortunately they don't make that shape anymore. I wanted an optical mouse so tried the Intellimouse Explorer, but hated it. Too big, shape was bad. Didn't like buttons (too easy to press, side button location and size). I went back to the Logitech for awhile but finally got the Explorer 3.0 when it came out. It's a little smaller, so usable. I still don't like the buttons. I think that using two thumb buttons is much easier than one on each side (ala Intellimouse 5 button non-Explorer). Also w/ the Logitech, sometimes whatever function I'd programmed into the extra buttons (like close program!) would still perform that function inside games, and also preventing me from assigning that button in the game. Haven't tried programming the Explorer yet, since I haven't loaded the Intellipoint software yet (still using XP's default drivers).

My 2 cents.

I ended up with the MS as well because of crappy support (software)
man, Logitech could sell alot more product if they actually made their software work properly.
their hardware is gold, they just need to get Mouseware working right.
the new MX mice are easily the nicest feeling mice I have ever felt.. bar none.
the last best feeling mouse was my Logitech iFeel Mouseman optical... loved it. i used it so much the bottom pads wore off and it started wearing into the plastic on the mouse, and then started rubbing on the rubber on the side. had to retire that beast. :(

Logitech mice forever! :D

like you, i hate the feel of my MS mouse, but at the time, only one that I could do what I wanted with.
now, with new Mouseware, I may be able to sell this or move it to another computer and get the mouse I actually like. :)

I am now and will always use the MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. You're right; it's big, but I'm a tall freak with huge hands and I need it. WEEEE!!!

Either MX 500/700 or intellimouse 3.0 (or if you don't mind the huge cost, bluetooth mouse might be good). I use an mx 500, best mouse I"ve ever used hands down. What you need to do is go to a store that has the mice you are considering and try them on, nothing beats actually holding it.

At first the weight of the MX700 was kinda too heavy.. but over the weeks I have adjusted to the mouse. Have had no problems with games ( well after 9.75 ) and no problems with the mouse

Excellent mouse IMO

I love my MX700. And I'm not some undersensitive twit that can't tell the difference between a 30ms LCD and a 16ms LCD or anything, I am very anal about things that involve sense. I can tell you that there is absolutely no sluggishness with the MX700, and anybody that says otherwise either needs to lay off the wacky weed or stop attaching magnets to their wireless receiver. It samples 125 times per second, which, incidentally, is the maximum number of responses per second that USB can handle. If you don't care about wireless however, just save yourself $20 and go with the MX500. We use the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0a at school, and I like the feel of the MX500/700 better, as I think that the fact that the side of the mouse is completely concave is really annoying (instead of concave, and then a small dropoff), as I have a habit of picking up the mouse slightly every now and then, and I expect to be able to pick it up effortlessly. Also, I like that there is no boundary between the mouse button and the mouse (it's one continuous piece of plastic, see edge) on the Logitech mice.

And if you think the MX700 is heavy, you must be a pasty nerd :D I use my computer a LOT and I have yet to feel any more strain in my mousing hand than I do my left hand.
