Great player but man the personal issues with him.

That's kinda tough in my opinion. To many positions and then there is offense and defense.
Anyway, her is a short list by position:

Offense:
Receiver: Jerry Rice
Quarterback: Montana or Unitas
Running Back: (split)
- tough, hardnosed runner: Jim Taylor
- beatufiful to watch: Barry Sanders
- overall: Payton

Defense:
-Linebacker: LT or Butkus
-Cornerback: hate to say it but Deion
-Saftey: ?

Coach: Lambardi

I skipped several positions but I'm late for class -

I'd have to agree with Snipa for the most part, in football you have to break it down by position:

QB: Montana
RB: Jim Brown / Barry Sanders / Payton / Sayers
WR: Jerry Rice / Lynn Swann
TE: Ozzy Newsome
OL: Jim Parker, Stepnoski, Williams, Art Shell, Bill Fralic

DL: Reggie White / Clyde Simmons / Mean Joe /
LB: Tommy Nobis, LT, Butkus, Nitschki (sp?), Jack Ham
CB: Nightrane Lane / Deion Sanders / Rod Woodson / Herb A
FS: Steve Atwater
SS: Ronnie Lott / Paul Krause

European Football: Pele

American Football: Joe Montana

Canadian Football: Lui Passaglia

XFL: Cheerleaders 😉

Cheers,
Aquaman

No contest, Fred Flintstone!! He always kicks everyone ass when him and Barney get together and play a game or two.

QB: John Elway
RB: Barry Sanders
WR: Jerry Rice
TE: Shannon Sharpe(he's starting to drop balls a lot more often now)

CB: Deon Sanders(before the whole prime time fiasco)
SS: Steve Atwater
LB: Derrick Thomas

What's wrong with Montana? Other than being the coolest customer under pressure, playing hurt, always finding the open guy, being a great leader and making the rest of the players on the team raise the level of their play???

For all around talent an grace I have to say Walter Payton... For results it would be Montana.. But my favorite has to be Charlester Crumpler.. Gotta love the name..

Yep, Payton was something else, on and off the field (as was Montana for that matter). I admired him throughout his career, he was a great person down to his last few months (battling illness).

Chuck Bednarik

Philadelphia Eagles 1949-1962. He played both Center and Linebacker. He is famous for putting the big hit on Frank Gifford and knocking him out cold. They called him Concrete.
