Best department store for clothes

Hey Guys.
So i've been working on improving my wardrobe these days.
I got some stuff at Macys recently (they were having a pretty good sale if i signed up for their credit card). I haven't used any of the clothes, so i could still return everything, and i'm wondering if thats a good store to shop from.

I'm in Austin, TX Btw if that helps. I just need a good store that does price gouge me to oblivion. Any suggestions.

Different places, depends on how 'nice' you want to go. I've had good luck getting decent items at Old Navy and Kohls, but they both run a lot of 'sales'. Just keep in mind that 99% of what you buy is all made in the same southeast Asian sweat shop.

Go workout instead, and then buy bulk xs tees online.. All the wardrobe u'd ever need.

IMO Kohl's is probably the best bang for you buck clothes store. They have lots of good sales, and a good mix of clothes for a variety of styles. You should be able to find some good stuff there.

Sounds to me like you are willing to waste money. There's nothing wrong with second hand shops, and if you know what you're looking at, you can get clothes that outclass anything sold at the big dept stores. If you think you're too good to buy used, think again....

hmm. No. I'd rather not buy used clothes. I don't mind buying used Electronics (in facts that what i usually get). Maybe i do feel to above it, or maybe after several years i finally have money enough to afford good clothes (or atleast resonable clothes). Why should i buy good will.

ps. I've been to goodwill several time and have never found clothes worth anything. I've had better luck finding cheaper clothes at mall. couple that with shitty service, shitty store, and the feeling that i'm poor = Goodwill sucks. Sorry, but thats how i feel.

I'm pretty sure I would shop at Goodwill no matter how rich I was. Maybe not, but I really have no problems buying second hand. Like you said, you buy second hand electronics.. What is the difference?

Yes, there is a lot of trash at Goodwill and other second hand stores, but there is a lot of good stuff too. You just have to sift through it. That's half the fun.

I don't really shop for clothes there, mostly just random stuff. Picked up a mini fridge for the garage the other day. But I have picked up a few T shirts. If you look, you can often find brand new ones that if they've been worn, you can't tell. I look for "expensive" shirts, with the nice, thick cotton.. not that thin cheap crap you often see these days. Shrug. Obviously I wouldn't buy the shirts that look like they've gone through the wash a few hundred times.

I'm really not picky about clothes though. Jeans from Ross, tshirts with no holes/stains, I'm good.

Kohls is my preference. I don't need anything fancy but they have a good selection of stuff and I usually hit the clearance racks for good deals.

Aside from Jockey underwear I've never found anything at Kohls that was of good quality to wear.

Spend the extra money - they will last a lot longer than bying cheap at JC penny or Kohls.


And Saks Off 5th - a good amount of that crap was never brought into the store - it was purhcased to sell at Off 5th to try and fool their customers in thinking there getting a good eal. Same goes for Nordstoms Rack. Some stuff is great, other is cheap crap.

My wife is crazy with the deal shopping and finds shit in the garment district in NYC when were there at crazy prices.

LA Garment district is cheaper but much worse for the most part. You can get a suit tailored in LA cheaper than you can in the entire country if you can speak spanish and go talk to the guys that sell the really nice materials.

Never been to a Macy's or Saks (not American), but I absolutely love J.Crew and Banana Republic. Prices aren't especially bad either. No, they're not department stores, but free shipping should be available with coupons or over certain limits.

90% of my daily wear is from American Eagle or Macys. I've got a few suits from Brooks Brothers and everything else is Reebok/Nike/Addidas.

Nordstrom Rack is a good place to start if they have the sizes that fit you.

Some people believe that if you didn't pay 100 dollars for a tee shirt, its crap. Even though it comes from the same sweat shop as the 2 dollar tee from Walmart.

For what you're looking for, I'd just swing by Kohls, Old Navy, JC Penny, or whatever big one is near by.
