I switched to the crystal natural deodorants several years ago. They absolutely work and have no aluminum chloride. Believe it or not in the long term they do reduce perspiration also (not that it's intended to be that way, but there's something about getting back to a natural state that brings you to a kind of equilibrium.) I used to sweat like mad back in high school regardless of what I tried. The crystals take a few weeks for your body to get used to but long-term I could not be any more pleased with them and like the fact that I'm not putting those chemicals on my skin. It's the natural salts that prevent the odor-causing baddies from forming.
At first, you're going to have to get used to the feeling of being without a thin film of gel under your arms like you're covered in Scotchgard, but as long as you can get over the hump you're golden.
I'm not going to deny that at the end of particularly bad days there is a certain "manly" smell about me, but believe it or not the wife doesn't mind...I think it's the pheromones.
I recently tried the roll-on variety which has a little bit of scent to it and I do prefer that now to the plain stone which you have to dip under the faucet.
I suggest they are worth a try!
