Best DDR400 PC3200 RAM deal I could find this week

Here's a deal that's also 69.99 after 30.00 MIR. PNY PC-3200 1 GB from Outpost. It's shows it's a special order item but it does say about special orders:
Special Orders

I've always had great luck with PNY rebates as far as getting them back quickly. I did 4 or 5 PNY rebates in the last year from Fry's and Beastbuy and the quickest was 2 1/2 weeks and the longest was 5 weeks.
I have some PNY PC3200 in a t least one of my computers and it's running fine. No OC'ing so I can't comment on that.
Newegg sells the same thing for 100.98 shipped here, PNY PC-3200 1GB Has 10 revies for 5 stars for what that's worth.

I have a dual channel question. My sons computer has a socket 939 GeForce 6100 mATX NForce4 motherboard with 4 RAM slots. It came with 2x256 DDR400 and I would like to bump it up to 1GB. If I put a single 512mb DDR400 in the thrid or fourth slot will it slow down the existing dual channel RAM?

At this point I am thinking that the adding the extra 1x512mb that I have laying around to the existing 2x256 will outweigh loosing dual channel.

More RAM > dual channel

At least until I can find an affordable 2x256 or 2x512 dual channel pair to add to the existing RAM.

I bought two 512MB PNY verto (gaming version) DIMMS a few weeks ago and I am very disapointed in them. Verto is supposed to be the premeium line of RAM but one of the two sticks does not have a Programed SPD and one PCB is larger than the other. Quality Control At PNY cannot be much better than that of ULTRA RAM and PSUs.


This is my first experience with PNY and will most likely be my last.

I have one stick of Buffalo RAM, although it is not the one currently being sold. Mine is Buffalo Tech PC3200 with Winbond CH-5. It can easily do 2-3-3-6-1T. I was surprised at the high quality.
