The Civic Tour in SJ, CA was pretty damn good yesterday. I had a lot of fun.

Bands playing were: in this order: Movielife, MXPX, GC, NFG
 
One of my more memorable concerts (not really a concert though) was when I saw Danzig perform in a small
bar in Dallas back in 1988. There were like 30 people in the tiny place and I was slam dancing with some skinheads
only a few feet away from him.
 
I've been to a few big name concerts like NiN, Bowie, Depeche Mode, The Cure, etc, but the one that really sticks out in my mind for bing the best was The Toadies. They just sounded so good live, and they put on an awesome performance. The crowd was really into it.

I saw them 8-10 years ago when the opened for "No Doubt" and I thought they were horrid.

Alice Cooper (Raise Your Fist and Yell tour) with Guns and Roses (Appetite for Destruction tour) opening up...


Most likely because it was my first "real" concert (I saw the Osmonds in the late 70's w/parents).

1. Incubus - St. Andrew Hall, Detroit, 1997 (wayyy before they were big.. it was a S.C.I.E.N.C.E. release tour thingy... I've seen incubus 6 times, and none came close to this one)
2. Tool - State Theater, Detroit (Lateralus Pre-Tour Mini-Tour Thingy... 2-1/2 Hour Set, No Openers)
3. A Perfect Circle - Eastern Michigan U. Convocation Center... This band 0wnz live....
4. Carl Craig and The Detroit Experiment... Last weekend at the Detroit Electronic Music Fest...

 
There has been so many. I guess the one that comes immediately to mind is the Lolapolloza show with the RHCP's headlining right after they released their Blood Sugar Sex Album

Bah, I would love to see them in concert. Too bad they broke up though.
 
The best for me was the Jam in1982 or so. The Sound Effects tour. And yes I've been to lots since.
The weirdest was the Police in 1977. They played a little bar in Toronto, the Edge or the El Mocombo, I can't remember and there were only 13 people in the audience. And they played really well. I think they had just released their first album. We just went to see some guys from England...no idea who they were.
 
Note: Pointfest is the local name for a summer radio tour. If you live in St. Louis, you know what I'm talking about. I can't remember the years, sorry.

Pointfest 3. It was my first concert, but would rank up there regardless. Sponge's lead singer crowd-surfed through most of their set and Bush had just put out Sixteen Stone.

Either Pointfest 5 or 6. One of them had a local band called The Urge that was on right before 311, and 311 was the last band of the night. They (The Urge) were so good that even my friends that were die-hard fans of 311 wanted to leave because 311 would just look ridiculous by comparison (plus, we were physically drained).

Deftones and Godsmack, 2001. The Deftones are one of the best rock bands out there, so of course they were just incredible. Godsmack's pyros were incredible. Their show was much better than I expected.

Tool, 2002. The only bad part was when the guitarist played the three notes from the end of one of the songs on Lateralus for literally 5 minutes. Seriously. Try listening to three notes over and over (they're very slow) for 5 minutes. It's insane. The rest was just incredible. And Tricky (the opening band) was also incredible. MUCH better than their CDs IMO.
