Van Halen, 12/5/82 at Reynolds Coliseum, Raleigh, NC
The Who, 7/89 at Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh NC
Gun-n-Roses, 1991, Greensboro Coliseum, NC............This is the longest concert that GnR EVER played.....3 hrs, 45 minutes. Skid Row opened and they were awesome, too.
Van Halen, 1998, Blockbuster Pavillion, Charlotte, NC......people may not have liked their album with Gary Cherone singing, but they broke out lots of old Roth-era classics for that tour.....totally brought the house down. Not to mention that Gary came out into the crowd during "Ain't talking 'bout love" and I got to sing a line with him.
Sammy Hagar, 2002, Altell Pavilion, Raleigh, NC.....the Sam and Dave tour, Sammy and David Lee Roth. People like to think of Van Halen with David Lee Roth as better, but after the tour in 2002, there's no doubt who still has the better show.......Sammy won, hands down. Sammy opened on this night, (they took turns closing) and when he was done, my friend who was a big VH w/Dave fan said "there's no way Dave can top that".
He was right. Dave gave a good show, but it wasn't even close to Sammy's.
