What show was this? I want to see it.

Can't think of the name offhand, will see if I can look it up on the DVR, it airs often. The show is basically this fatass who has a bucket list of the best steakhouses, or burger joints, .etc across the US. He watches the chef make their signature dish while gushing enthusiastically and becoming aroused. When he takes his first bite, they show him in slo-mo and add funky music. Food pr0n basically.

Not the best of food shows by any means, but damn that porterhouse was amazing and I like these kind of shows where they show restaurant chefs preparing real dishes to see their tricks.

Now that I think about it, the show may have been on some other channel, not food network. It will eventually come to me... :hmm:

Does The Weber Grill restaurant count as a chain?
There are multiple locations, albeit not many.

That's a little harsh. I've been to all the fancy ones (Morton, Club A, Luger's). They're amazing indeed. But calling Outback not a 'real' steak is too just wrong.

Their prime rib is quite tasty. A cut is a cut. Just because it didn't cost you an arm and a leg, doesn't mean the beef is mysteriously worse.

Plenty other places cost exactly the same, and deliver better food.

No, apparently 2/3rds of the states having locations doesn't qualify for a chain. Even though Mastro's has less then a dozen mostly in the southwest.

I saw that OP said he should have listed Ruth's. I was just sassing back at the couple posters who responded to my post with nonsense.

You asked where they were, not why they weren't on the poll. Only through the power of ninja editing do your posts even seem to resemble asking why they weren't on the poll.

Ah, now I see the mix up. I was asking where were they on the poll and you thought I was asking where are they located because I'm obviously unable to find my way around the internet... :p

The few attempts I've made to find a decent steak in the Bay area always have met with failure, usually expensive failure at that.

I just give up and get Chinese or Italian when I'm in SF.

what you want when you come to the Bay Area is Vietnamese, Korean, or Indian/Pakistani. That's what I have learned to live on. :D

You have to go out of your way to find decent meat shacks. I'm not big on steak houses, anyway (would much prefer to cook my own), but I don't know of any in the area that are considered a must-visit.

Where do you live? I have not heard of any of these places.
There's a Morton's, Ruth's Chris and Capital Grille in Troy, a Flemings in Livonia and Birmingham, several Sizzlers....

The best is Capital Grille, hands down.

Mastro's and Morton's are the best I've had respectively. Flemings is pretty good too.

If you're in LA a few local good ones are Arroyo Chop House in Pasaden, Houston's in Pasadena, and Porterhouse near west L.A.

I now I remember eating at one of this tier: Woodfire Grill, which I believe is a chain. There is one in DT Chicago, and the prime rib is excellent.

Is that the same Houston's that you find everywhere, and mentioned in the poll?

Alexander's is pretty good for a steak.. but I don't know if its a must-visit. I also tend to frequent the more ethnic places in the Bay Area though.
