There was an episode on Food Network about the best things chefs ate in Vegas.. One of them mentioned a chili rubbed double ribeye at SW Steakhouse. Next time I'm in Vegas, I may have to go for it. I just checked their menu out.. 42oz chili rubbed double rib-eye for $118.![]()
Ruth's Chris gets my vote (if it was an option I guess). I've been to steakhouses all over the country and they're still my favorite franchise steakhouse.
Also, I've been to Morton's twice, and for some reason, never realy liked their steak.

I love SW Steakhouse. Some of the best steak I ever had. Never tried the Chili rubbed double ribeye though, so I'll have to try that the next time.
Smith and Wollenski had been the best chain steak for me beating out Mortons, ruths Chris, Flemings, capital Grille by a long shot. Better steaks, sides, and desserts.
Never heard of it before, but if it beats them by a long shot, call me interested.
I'll never understand the popularity of Gino's. It's really nothing more than a glorified Pizza Inn that all the tourists flock to.
SW is batshit expensive. $150-200 for 2.
Steak anecdote (1990's):
New York's oldest Steakhouse, four Wall Street type young guys come in. Loud.
They say loudly to the water, laughing, showing off, 'WHAT'S THE BEST STEAK YOU HAVE?'
Waiter says 'Kobe steak, $125'.
Guy says very quietly: 'What's the second best?'
I'd go to Craft. Or Cut if you can afford it.
42oz?
Uh, most rational humans would consider that a 3-4 person serving of meat.

I've been to BLT (Bistro Laurent Tourondel), but I filled up on popovers.
- Smith & Wollensky: I like the Cajun Ribeye, but my party was seated at a poor table three out of three times: deep in the back next to two other Asian parties, under a flower decoration that dropped pollen on my friend throughout the meal, and four people on a two-person table.
- Ruth's Chris: When I went to Ruth's Chris, I was using a prescription mouthwash that had the side-effect of temporarily deadening my taste buds. I didn't realize the effect because the steak still tasted great.
- Morton's
Does BLT Steak count as a chain? I know they at least have one in NY and DC.
