Anyone know a good card that would be a good improvment over a 6600gt? *ANSWERED AND ORDERED* Next question: Best Cats for x1900gt?
 
I forget how much a canadian is worth these days, but if you want to spend all that, probably an x1900xt @ ~$315 US. Next step down is an x1800xt @ ~$200 US. 7900gt tends to cost more and perform worse, in oblivion at least.

What processor?

1900xt nuf said. Look at some benches. and for the love of god don't buy that overpriced card from NCIX. I don't know why anybody would pay that much for a 1900xt.

For oblivion I'd stick with the x1900xt or some other ATI card. It seems like ATI has the better minimum framerates in that game, which I think it was really counts for the most.

Look on eBay... You really should be able to find an XT(X) for less then $350 CAD shipped from a reputable seller.

OP- If you can possibly scrounge up the extra cash I'd go for the X1900XT. Otherwise, I'd go for an X1800XT or X1900GT (can't remember which is better in Oblivion). You definetely want to stick with the ATI cards though as they really outperform the Nvidia GPUs in Oblivion.
