Also, I get ~$30,000 from my work towards any car I want. There was nothing at the $30,000 that wet my chops. So I was trying to get some suggestions.

$3k estimate i gave was assuming you used 60 gallons every 2 weeks which cost $3 a gallon or $180 every 2 weeks. then you take 28 weeks and you get 5040 (my bad). which is 1/8th the cost of your car. and 60 gallons in 2 weeks on any sedan mans you are traveling over 1500 miles in two weeks, or 40000 miles in one year. and thats A LOT. and also assuming that sedan is only getting 25 mpg. which is on the low side.

Seriously - at that price range you'd BETTER have an emotioanl attachment to your vehicle, something you want, something you love. Asking us to pick it is like asking us to pick your next girlfriend. And by the way, her name is Jane, her number is 555-328-7448, and I've already broken her in for you...

Cadillac CTS w/ 3.6L V6 and Luxury& Sport packages

Chrysler 300 w/ 3.5L V6 only $28K though loaded up after incentives
Jaguar S-Type w/ 3.0L V6 stripped down
Lincoln LS w/ 3.0L V6 About $30K loaded up after incentives

Saab 9-5 Aero 2.3L 4cyl turbocharged 250HP
Toyota Avalon

Why not get a Chrysler brand product with a Hemi V8, they have Cylinder deactivation which lets the vehicle sip gas at a 4cyl rate when the engine isn't being pushed.

06 Mitsubishi Evolution 9
06 Subaru WRX STi
06 Infiniti G35 Coupe

All those are sub 40,000 but with all the options and whatnot it should be pretty damn close.

02-04 BMW M3 SMG. They are 6 cylinder. They might??? get good mpg. The 07 M3 will be good, save up enough money and buy that one, 400hp V8 with fuel economy of a V6. The new Vette is nice, 400hp V8 with 18/28 and 0-60 in 4.5 sec.

Could you folx give me some suggestions? I am looking for a sedan. Prefer not to have anything larger than a six cylinder due to fuel cost. What is the best pre-owned sedan to get for price?

Thanks.

I'd buy a sedan for <$20,000 and put the rest in a mutual fund or IRA - or buy a house.
ahh yes... the quota for this statement in a "what car should I buy" thread has been filled. :D
