and this is another reason why amazon gets 99% of my business

Amazon killed a bunch of accounts a while back for excessive returns.

I agree that its BS that people game the system, but stuff like this just makes me want to shop elsewhere. I do not have to give ID or anything else to get a return, Im pretty sure there are laws that guarantee returns

Yes I know that fucktard, I actually said in a previous post Futureshop is one of my favourite stores and it's owned by best buy. But Futureshop was here long before them, and I've never had a problem with them.

Go back to your welfare line with your welfare cell phone paid by the tax payers so you bums can look for a job. They should make taking a bus and texting a crime in Nova Scotia.

So you love Future Shop but hate BB and you know they are the same company. LOL You are indeed a dim wit. I based my attacks on you based on what you posted, you base your stupid attacks on where I am from. LOL

Why do you have such bigoted views of people who happen to live in other parts of Canada. I would love to get your opinion of French Canadians..... Oh boy.

What is it, only people from Alberta are "worthy"?

You poor bigot.

Listen to the words I type, I'm typing slowly so a Nova Scotian brain surgean with at 6th grade education like you can keep up.

Futureshop was my favourite store for a long time and was only bought... I SAID BOUGHT< NOT INVENTED OR CREATED, BOUGHT by American Best Buy in 2001.

Those damn resellers on Ebay are also to blame. They buy ALL the blu-rays on sale and then return them before 30 days if they don't sell.

This would be my concern. Best Buy keeping tabs on customer behavior is nothing new, like it or not. Nearly a decade ago they got press for their "devil/angel customer" policy. Where this seems to differ is the detail and scope with which they're doing so. What conditions lead to a warning? Is the warning across any store which uses Retail Equation or are they tracked individually? Are unopened item returns tracked with the same scrutiny as used merchandise?

The third-party tracking service smells to me like a bureau/reporting agency except without any reporting or disclosure requirements.

If they are smart TRU is tracking customers across all stores that use their services. Online stores do this with fraud checks at the time of checkout if they use a third party service that will check the info against sales from numerous other stores as well.

This is not a bad idea but just like credit agencies if you are mistaken for a scammer it is darn near impossible to fix. I feel the government should regulate these services more.

It's because the horders at Slickdeals abused the systems and ruined it for everyone

Some of the slickdealers are ridiculously thrifty. I recall when Mortal Kombat (Vita) was on sale at Gamestop for $10. Numerous people in the thread reported that they bought the game just to trade in at Best Buy because of some promotion that they were running. I think they made something like $8 per copy.

did they start doing this last week because they dont even price match their own website from my expirence.

I've price matched at a Best Buy retail store using the Best Buy website. It would be inane for them not to price match their own website, because you could simply buy the item online with free in-store pickup, which would amount to the same thing as performing a price check. In fact, it's probably less work on Best Buy. :p

I price matched a UPS one time, and I was surprised that the attendant trusted my cell phone rather than looking it up herself. I could have easily just used a doctored image. If it isn't a ridiculous discount (say an extra $10 or $20 off), what would seem suspect about it.

Needless to say, I would never do that.

I bought my LCD TV from a local BB store, they price matched it from Amazon and then he asked if that was good enough. I laughed and asked for another $20 off. He said he couldn't do that. I laughed again and said that was fine, i'd still take it.

I was intending on ordering from amazon, but when i went by there and looked around, i started suffering from the got to have it now problem. I may not have done it if they didn't price match amazon, but they did with no hassle at all. He pulled up the model on amazon's page and verified i was right about the price and matched it.

Surprisingly easy.

As for exchanges and returns, I've only actually returned for money back or store credit a few times, crappy gifts i didn't want in the first place. (none from amazon). I've done a fair bit of exchanging on amazon due to damaged items. They've yet to complain and seem to be doing better on packaging things i order.

What does Toys 'R Us have to do with this? ;)

Given that it's a third party service, I fully expect their tracking to be across a customers full "footprint" at stores using the service, since that's how it'd be most effective. That does create a lot of questions though, and in the end, stores using such a policy will probably hassle far more honest customers than the amount of fraud they eliminate. Being banned from returns basically guarantees an honest customer will not return to that store in that 90 day window, and probably much less after that.

Nothing wrong with that. I did the whole used game special (forgot the titles) at Gamestop and traded them in for BB credit. Easy money and I promptly converted that into Amazon GCs :p

There was a period when you could buy game consoles for mad cheap from various retailers, and then turn right back around and sell them to amazon for gift cards.

+$50/console

Do you mean borrow? And by borrow do you mean stealing items and returning them for money?!!!
Yep I mean "borrow" or "barrow". Whatever suites your fancy man.
EDIT: I would never steal from the good, honest, moral, folks who run Walmart and I would never steal products and then return them for items I could really use. Like groceries.....for example.
I was just joking in my earlier post.

How many returns constitutes excessive returns? I shop a lot at Best Buy. I am by no means an excessive returner. Is there a calculations that they use? I was given a warning that I can return one more time, then I won't be able to return anything for 90 days. What about Christmas time?

I would not be surprised if my local Fry's have a picture of me in the lunch room with a sign that says "Do not accept returns from this guy" ... I've purchased and returned so many things there...D:

It doesn't matter.

What we know is three times return WITHOUT receipt gets you 90 days. Being BANNED for any other reason depends on the management. If you show up with a cartful of merchandise on returns (even with receipt) every week, every two weeks and one day before the 30 day limit, you will get red flagged and you may get banned permanently.

The returning system is definitely broken. i will admit there are a bunch of people using the system but we all know why a returning policy is so important nowa days. THINGS ARE BUILT CHEAPLY! Return Policies are the one saving grace to the modern market where "disposable" is the commonly accepted quality for consumer products. In a world where businesses cut corners on their products and consumers cheat the system by free renting... there needs to be a compromise to both ends of the problem or a completely innovative solution.

I don't think you will have any problems if its sealed and you have receipts, or gift receipts. There is a system and as long as you follow the system properly you will never have any problems
