It thought this would be a good deal for Canadians to look forward to.

Best Buy will be making its way to Canada very soon to give Future Shop some competition. 63 stores are planned by 2003.

Can't wait!

We should start seeing some stores either this year or next year.
Notice how Future shop is rapidly expanding and trying to get more stores across Canada, well they're gearing up for the competition!

First Canada invades us with a crap-load of tim hortons', and then we counter-invade with best buys? what kind of trade is that? they better invade us with something better to make it even 😀

Best Buy - so bad that another customer once complained to them about the service that _I_ was receiving.

I hope they come quick. Futureshop makes me really pissed since they take advantage of no competition and raise the prices. The prices should be the same on both sides and duties should be imposed only when crossing the borders.

why do I get the feeling that PM-ing from canadian FRANCS to American dollars is going to be a huge headache? I guess we shall see...

Canadians and their gravy over fries, poutine, Future Shop, French-Canadians and now this, pbbbt! (j/k) 😱

No, the official Canadian currency is the Canadian Buck. I have a wallet fulla bucks I use whenever I go back to the motherland.

BTW, Tim Horton's has NOTHING on Krispy Kreme. Sure their Timbits taste better than Dunkin' Donuts' equivalent, but Krispy Kreme is going to corner the intergalactic market on donuts!!!

I live in Portland, OR. I kinda like Futureshop. Last week they sold my girlfriend the wrong computer. She wanted a budget machine and decided to further save $$ by buying an open box item. A salesperson in training messed up the scan and sold her a $1800 P4 for $899. We did not realize the mistake made till I opened up the machine to juice it up with some good ol' Crucial RAM. Being of good conscience, my gf wanted to return the comp (!). I convienced her that Futureshop was an evil corporation which makes billions and won't be hurt with a minor loss such as this. Besides, I told her to hold on to it so I can brag about it to everyone I know. Anyway, after the salesperson realized the mistake he had made, he called many times asking us to return the computer. We refused and he told us the extended warranty would be void if we didnt comply. Thats just fine with us. Isn't Canada wonderful? 🙂

Krispy Creams will soon be on its way to Canada too! Some rich millionaire is trying to bring them over here.

FYI, Futureshop now has a lowest price guaranty. You can't phone them up and get a price match on the spot, you have to buy the item and then ask for the refund when you show them a better advertised price. Look here for details.

Taken from their website:

I haven't actually tried it yet but I called their CSR and in theory it should work.

This could prove very useful because Futureshop tends to have a lot of mail-in rebates from mfr. that only apply if you purchase the item at Futureshop.

Plus you get aeroplan points too!!!
