They won't care about certs or lack of them... they want to know if you can sell a 6' HDMI cable for $75 with a Best Buy protection plan.

It's gold plated, de-ionized, triple shielded, and woven from the pubic hair of virgins!

I'm pretty surprised they would implicitly tell you what they're paying for their stock. I would think that they have lots of discounts and special deals with suppliers since they move so much product.

I used to work at CC and our discount used to be company cost, it wasn't much of a secret *shrug*

OP for any job there you do not need to know anything, I worked there for 3 months during the winter as a seasonal. I had no official previous job experiance and I was asked if I knew what Ghz and ram and memory was after I was hired.

there are 3 interviews

1- First one you have the manager of the section you are going to work in talks to you
2- floor manager- more of the same questions
3- Usually combined with 2, they will over you a job and make you sign papers.

OP are you a good liar? All you need to do is push service plans, In home installation, accessories..ect forget what product they buy, bestbuy cares if you can sell the extras. Also Pro tip, if you are in the PC section dont help any one with netbooks, since all they care for is a cheap computer lol and will never buy anything else. Also dont spend too much time with customers, I did that to make sure they got what they wanted and explained them shit so they understood, I always got crap for it lol

Depending on your store the managers might give a shiz, mine did not I had a white t-shirt for 2.5 months and constantly got asked if I worked there. The managers were like yea we ordered you a shirt. The shirt came in and no one told me I just brought it up with one of my co-workers and he was like they came in like a month ago....

Co workers I worked with were chill except one which always tried to boss me around. I am friends with a few of them still. So I can still get discounts and shiz on small items If I want.

Overall its an easy job, just standing for 8 hours sucks :p

For these types of jobs, throw your morals out the window when entering the interview room.

Interviewee: "Customer complains about a slow computer when its really antivirus slowing him down. What do you do?"
You:"Suggest buying a new computer with a bunch of Monster cables and an extended warranty."

During the interview - be sure to:
-Be sure to shake their hand when they come over to interview them. If you are sitting - stand up to greet them. When they say their name (John), respond with 'Hi John, nice to meet you.' or 'Hi John. Thanks for taking the time to meet with me.'
-give a decently firm hand shake
-don't slouch when you sit. Good posture is more readily received (sit up, shoulders back)
-give good eye contact
-don't mumble or shout
-dont have rambling answers to their questions
- turn off your cell phone

Good luck! (Keep an eye out for Manufacturer accommodations. They were way better then employee discounts. I got a Mitsubishi 65" TV for 65% of employee cost through Mitsubishi's accommodation program)

You definitely want to wear the polo shirt and pants. BBY interviews are cake, just make sure you speak at a proper volume and don't sound like a complete idiot and you will be fine. I worked at BBY for about six months.
But he's interviewing with BB, remember?

Sounds like you're reason there's so much hate for BB. :p

I've never had any issue at my local BBs, but I always go in knowing what I want, its details/specs, and how much I should be paying for it. Never had an issue when I've asked an employee for help, usually in finding any item that I can't locate their shelves or for a specific device that only works with another specific device, that sort of thing.

OP, its a retail job, something go hand in hand with that, but I'd say BB isn't a bad place to start your first real job. Beats working fast food.

One thing that's kinda fucked is how those best buy nazis try to justify their bullshit.

I worked there before, and district managers would try to convince the employees that they are not ripping off customers. Why spend $5 for a CAT6 cable at Home Depot when you could spend $30 at Best Buy. Their cables are "better" than the Home Depot ones for some unexplained reason!

Also, I once got in trouble because I couldn't help a customer who wanted help in the computer section (I worked in the movies and music section). Then literally the next day, the store manager said in our morning meeting that we should stay in our area. Make up your fucking minds! Do I help them or not? Just give a clear answer and I'll do that. Jesus fuck.

My brother worked there for a short while. He is really into computers and he would actually try to help people find a good computer for them as opposed to selling only what he was told to push. He was asked to leave after about three weeks.

Interview went great. The manager was really cool, and there was a guy in front of me who I actually knew. Anyway, called me on the way home and I have another interview with the GM tomorrow. Said I'd be really good for the sales floor.

So did any of the ATOT tips come in handy? Like "I love monster cables" and "we can set up your e-book reader for only $300?"
