Come on, guys. Leave the PS3 fanboi alone. He needs that space for his mandatory installs.

What mandatory installs are you talking about?

A lot (but not all) PS3 games require installation due to slow blu-ray drive speeds.

Not true, at least for the games I have. The only game I've played that required it was Burnout. All the others are optional.

I think all my PS3 games (maybe 6 or 7) have required installation, plus most have patches.

Good deal for you, OP!

Good luck on the heart surgery.

I've had a 360 since launch and if there is one topic that makes my blood boil it is the idiotic hd implementation. I will never buy an upgrade at those prices which is really their loss since I won't be downloading any of their content due to lack of space.
I am enjoying UFC though. :)
Now let me use my Zune as an external HD!

hehehe you know what...i was just happy to get $30.00 back that it didn't dawn on me

now i have this image of a newspaper boy riding around on a bike asking "Where's my $2.00???"

I can't argue when it comes to the insane prices MS charges for their HDD expansion. However, there comes a point when it was worth it to me to upgrade. I didn't feel like going through the hassle of figuring out how to hack the drive swap, so I didn't really have any other options.

So maybe you should change your thread title to "Best Buy screws me out of $2".

Fixed that for you buddy. If you got nothing to add to the conversation, you should just keep it to yourself next time.

Truth hurts?

I like my xbox but its BS how microsoft rip everyone off on HDD's and other pehipherals. Wireless adapter is another great example...

Today, I was in Best Buy looking for a new game to keep me occupied and saw the 120gb HDD for the Xbox360 tagged @ $127.99. I originally thought they were $149.99, so I decided what the hell, still way more than what you can normally get in a 2.5" drive but may as well.

After getting a game, I went to the register, and she rang me up for a total of 217.99. Hmmm...thought that didn't add up after paying, so upon reviewing the receipt, the drive was $159.99. I mentioned the difference to the cashier, and she went to investigate. She came back with the tag in hand, advised me that they failed to make the change, but she'll go ahead and honor the difference. She walked me over to Customer Service and then refunded me $30.00.

:)

I wouldn't be THAT excited about the price you paid.

You can get the same HDD from newegg for $139.99 which is pretty close to what you paid if yo include your tax. I don't think newegg charges tax in most places.

No tax in Anchorage, AK, however, shipping would probably put me at what Best Buy would have charged me. If I have to buy anything online, I usually go through Amazon.com for the Supersaver shipping options.

Edit: For 3day UPS Ground $18.19. Amazon did have it with free shipping but then I'd have to wait 1-2wks for delivery. This was an impulse buy, so I guess if I was really looking to save money, I could have bought it online. IF the salesperson didn't give me the price break, I would have just told her to give me a full refund.

Target was clearing their 120GB inventory out several months ago and I snagged one for $120. There were two... I'm kicking myself for not getting the second one for one of my buds still stuck with the 20GB.

Agreed - prices are too damn high for these things... but damn! The extra room you get from moving up from a 20GB is almost worth the money. At least the prices for the 120GB are coming down - stubbornly, but getting there.
