Best Buy error in my favor...

So far it's been a lousy 2009, so I'll take silver linings whereever I can find them.

Today, I was in Best Buy looking for a new game to keep me occupied and saw the 120gb HDD for the Xbox360 tagged @ $127.99. I originally thought they were $149.99, so I decided what the hell, still way more than what you can normally get in a 2.5" drive but may as well.

After getting a game, I went to the register, and she rang me up for a total of 217.99. Hmmm...thought that didn't add up after paying, so upon reviewing the receipt, the drive was $159.99. I mentioned the difference to the cashier, and she went to investigate. She came back with the tag in hand, advised me that they failed to make the change, but she'll go ahead and honor the difference. She walked me over to Customer Service and then refunded me $30.00.

:)

That's nice, but I can buy a 500GB HD for my PS3 for $90, everyday.

I can't agree with you more, but sadly, MS keeps us from doing that with the 360...

I just found out I may need another heart surgery, 6 months after my first one, so I can use a few good breaks for the rest of the year.

Fixed that for you buddy. If you got nothing to add to the conversation, you should just keep it to yourself next time.

Good luck with your surgery.

As for the $128 120GB HDD price error,. Certifiable raping IMHO.

Why don't you take your own advice next time.

Well, you could have, I think. The Xbox HDDs are just laptop HDDs with plastic casing around them. There's youtube videos on how to take them apart and I don't know the details but I think you can use your own HDD? Not too sure.

For most people it's not worth the insane amount of trouble. Some of you will sigh at my first sentence, but not everybody knows exactly what they are doing and can do it in under an hour.

Plus there's always the chance MS will ban the console ids of those using unofficial "hacked" hdds. My time and probably inconvenience of getting banned from live isn't worth it. Small investment for a great console - great deal. I'm happy with my upgrade from a 20 to a 60 gig hdd.

What mandatory installs are you talking about?

A lot (but not all) PS3 games require installation due to slow blu-ray drive speeds.

Not true, at least for the games I have. The only game I've played that required it was Burnout. All the others are optional.

Yea, you're one to talk about adding nothing to the conversation. What an idiot.

I have an Xbox 360 myself and I don't particularly like the PS3, and even I agree that MS rapes you on HD prices. Given the amount of content available on Xbox Live and now the ability to install games to the hard drive, they ought to increase the sizes.

Furthermore, even if you have unlimited money, they still cap out at 120 GB! What's the deal? It should be like 320 GB for $100 and 120 GB for $50. Or something like that. I'm fine with paying a little extra for a special MS hard drive module that I can just pop on, but their prices right now are insane.

In this day and age, 360 HDDs should be no more than $100 and no smaller than 250GB. MS would make a killing selling 250GB HDDs for $99.99 if they'd just do it.

Hi, this is a thread about a Best Buy error in his favor for a 360 product. Nowhere does he mention the PS3 or even make any comparisons/claims about the PS3 VS 360.

Go troll elsewhere.

I think that every game I own (6 or 7 games) requires installation before you can play.

I think there is a good mix of them, it just depends on what games you play. MGS4 is a bit insane on the install -- and since I'm a PC gamer, I don't really see installing to the HD to have faster load speed as a con.

Hell, I do HD installs on my XBox 360 all the time as well just so I don't have to deal with he noise, and the load speed is slightly faster.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Tagged price was $127.99, rung up for $159.99, difference is $32. You got a $30 refund? You still didn't get the shelf price. Is part of your story missing?
