In a recent feedback survey conducted by my gym, I indicated that the gym needed to replace a few of their bars, and/or buy new ones. To my surprise, the gym manager contacted me directly and asked me for specific recommendations. I've never bought gym equipment before; what are some good quality brands of bars? They are looking specifically for regular olympic bars and curls bars (both the regular 15 lb. variety and the longer, thicker 35 lb. ones if possible).

From what I can remember, the reviews that I've read recently on CF boards all regard the Pendlay and Rogue bars very highly. Maybe take a look around roguefitness.com and see what they offer?

The best money can buy: http://www.werksanusa.com/products-bars-collars.asp

best value: http://www.roguefitness.com/store/rogue_bar.php

also best value (look at Econ for $200 or HD for $250): http://www.pendlaybarbell.com/olliba.html

another highly reviewed bar that is versatile for powerlifting and weight lifting: http://www.roguefitness.com/store/BR_bar.php

Would recommend any of those over the typical York one you are going to get from most local fitness equipment distributors. These will last longer and are higher quality.

Curls bars I have no idea.

And this.

The bars at my gym have these tiny ridges all along where you slide the weight on, it's the only beef I have had with any bar. Ever. Use a freaking clamp, it's what they're there for!
