We mods don't "always lock threads right when they start to get interesting." For instance, we locked this one, and it's still lame as can be. To answer your greater question, however, there is a distinct difference between the give and take of intelligent and respectful discourse, and baiting that leads to flaming that leads bandwidth hogging food fights that leads to . . . LONG UNPLANNED VACATIONS.
