Metallica - St.Anger

i love metallica, but lets be honest, that album sucked for metallica standards. IMHO anyway, i can still dig it though.

Top Albums:

Deftones - Deftones
Audioslave - Audioslave
Linkin Park - Meteora

Audioslave was in 2002. Very good album, though. :D

yes it was, but, it was late enough in 2002 to be included in 2003's grammy awards. hence why i included it.

Audioslave is a great album

:D

OK, i am a bit over halfway through superunknown right now. I will make this distinction btw cornells voice then and now: it is a bit more hoarse (a few too many smokes?) anyway, i think both voices fit appropriately to each style of music. I personally like the hoarsseness a bit more. He seems older, yet can still hit those high notes and damn can he get his voice low too. At any rate, i think he has one of the best if not THE best voice of the 90s. Also, there is a lot more screaming in soundgardens music, a bit over done IMHO. anyway his voice is still awesome, just changed a bit from his early days.

APCs album was very good. been a while since Tool released anything. anyone got any news on them?

Sarah Brightman: Harem--She's full of herself, but I can't help liking her :)

I really wanted Sarah McLachlan's album to be best, but it's too damn short and only 2/3 good.

nothing mind blowing came out this year... at least what I've listened to this year

but my vote goes to the White Stripes "Elephant" - I like their previous works a little better but this is still a great album

I'll provide a quick relief from all the conformists crying Linkin Park, Audioslave and White Stripes to add

Dream Theater - Train of Thought
Arch Enemy - Anthems of Rebellion

White Stripes - Elephant (good to hear a reincarnation of the Stones)

Jay-Z - The Black Album (Hov went out with a bang)

50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Trying (as much as I think 50 is average, this album was exceptional with ridiculous production from Dre/Em and 50 puts Ja Rule's rep on life support)

Outkast (always droppin' dimes)

Ooooh, you're gonna take some flak for that one :p

Why? It was the best album of 2003.....compared to the rest of the crap that was released.
B/c it is cool once again to hate Metallica and everyone on the board had to rip on the new CD before listening to 75% of it. First it was cool for the old headbangers to like them. Then the headbangers said they "sold out" and it was cool for mainstream listeners to like them. Now it's cool for both groups to rip on them. I don't care what is considered cool...if my ears like what they hear I'll listen to it. I like all the Metallica albums as well as all of the Alice in Chains, Beastie Boys, and most Pantera albums.

Honestly though, 2003 was a pretty weak year for music.

Just now I decided to order my albums in Winamp by release date and came up with several more good albums from 2003:

The Cinematic Orchestra - Man with a Movie Camera
Pretty Girls Make Graves - The New Romance
Mogwai - Happy Songs for Happy People
Infected Mushroom - Converting Vegetarians
The Strokes - Room on Fire
Katalyst - Agent Manipulated
