I have never really heard any 5.1 speakers that can even come close to matching the Klipsch 5.1s. Do you have to have a 5.1 set? If you could settle for 4.1, then the Logitech z560s are awesome.

polk AMR 130's are nice they are better for music than the klipsch or logitech

but the 150's though only 4.1 would still be better for music

klipsch is more geared toward gamers

From what I've heard of them in the store, they just couldn't compare to the Klipsch.

I haven't used them, but Tech TV gave them top honors in their review a while back. Of course I don't trust Tech TV for hardcore gamers, but it still means that they must not be bad. They look cool too. Oh yea, the didn't have the Klipsch speakers in the comparison.

I have those Yamahas. They're nice, but they don't have enough power for my taste. They also get a little distorted when they are turned up high.

IMHO these are what you want. Of course they may not be available at a price you are willing to pay...

I think you'll be happy with the klipsch 5.1 so I'd start thinking of ways you can afford it.

A lot of the cheaper 5.1 pc speakers don't have a center channel like the Klipsch.

All of the 5.1 speakers should have a center channel. That is what makes them 5.1. 4 satellites and a subwoofer make up the 5 and the .1 is for the center channel. Or maybe the .1 is the subwoofer. I don't remember. I guess they could have a virtual center channel, but I don't think they would be able to label them as "5.1"

i think he's saying that the center speaker is usually the same speaker as the satellites in most 5.1 setups. If you look at the Klipsch 5.1s, the center speaker is different looking. Well it fundamentally is probalby the same speaker but the shape and the way it sits is different which makes it possible to put under/on top of your monitor/tv and not look awkward.

I would recommend the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1s ... they are selling at your local CompUSA and Best Buy. I would try to avoid buying them from Newegg because they are not an offical Klipsch authorized dealer; therefore, you don't get the 1 year Klipsch warrenty.

If $400 is too high, why not just get the Logitec Z560s? It's not 5.1 but they sound damn good ... would 2 sets of the Z560s (roughly equivalent to 1 set of PM 5.1s) be worth it????? :D

I think I read somewhere that creative speakers aren't that great and that they're designed for the low-end market. Also, when they bought Cambridge Soundworks, they destroyed their reputation and market share when they halted high-end speaker production and focused mainly on mainstream, inexpensive, lower quality speakers. Just my two cents.

Klipsch really is worth the money, I suggest you find some way to afford them because DAMN they rock (rocking my house with some music on them as I type...goddamn what time is it anyway?)
