Best 2.1 Speakers?

Title says it all... what are the best 2.1 speakers you reccomend?

I have been using them for about 3.5 years, and they still are amazing. I use them for the PC in my bedroom, and they seriously shake the entire room if I turn them up. Crystal clear sound, too.

Anyone care to elaborate on slightly cheaper alternatives, such as the mx5021 or z2300?

The MX5021 has cleaner mids and highs w/ ample bass. Z2300 is all about bass and muddy midrange.

altec ATP3 or whatever replaced it. the ATP3 has a nice big sub and very good satellites.

The Klipsch i-Fi's are the best computer speakers with a amp in the sub (making them computer speakers). This is because they use the RX-3 bookshelf speakers that have a lot more quality in them then any other computer speakers around, and throw in a high quality sub. You can get them for around $200 on ebay. After that, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1.

Their is a link to the klipsch speakers I mentioned. Although you could do a lot better with a stereo reciever and a pair of bookshelfs.

All of the above are decent stereo speaker systems - but, they are not the "Best." It may be out of your league - but the cool factor is obvious in addition to the technology factor.

Not computer speakers.... computer speakers have a amp in the sub (if one is included) or the right speaker (if their is only 2 speakers).

Thanks for all the replies I'm looking into the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's right now... unfortunately the iFi's are a bit too expensive for me!

Yea, the Klipsch iFi is pretty expensive, and the Promedias are really old, but are still some of the best quality computer speakers.

yea ifis seem nice. the rsx-3 supposedly costs 260 a pair alone http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=874&dmore=True&rmore=False
its gonna last atleast several years, so you may as well get something you won't annoy you with its inadequacies
3.5"midrange in sats, not bad, i think the normal promedias and other comp speakers are 2.5" or less

Rediculous notion! All speakers can be used with a computer - and the fact is, they perform better than computer speakers. You simply connect an audio amplifier/pre-amp to the sound cards line out port. You'll get sound never heard by limited computer speaker users.

I use the Altec Lansing Fx6021. The bass is weaker and less defined than the Klipch promedia, but the highs and mids are much crisper and more well defined.

They start to sound congested when played loud, but they have a pleasant and blanced sound (read: not overly bass heavy while the midrange is no where to be found) sound. This works well when listening to music, especially if your taste is outside of the all too pervasive pop music crap.

I've heard many times these are the best 2.1 setup

Microsoft made a really great set of speakers called the Miscrosoft Digital Sound System 80 back in the days and they were by far the best speakers i have heard. The highs and lows were very crisp. It featured 2 satellites and 1 dual speaker subwoofer made by (i believe) Phillips. You can find a few on ebay (Here is one)

BTW, i still have mine and they still work great!
