I own the klipsch 2.1 and its very powerful/clear. The subwoofer is not a laggy one as it keeps up with fast beats. Lets put it this way, when i play counterstrike, the neighbors come a knockin.

I have the Klipsh 4.1's and i love them, the sound quality is excellent(for me anyways i'm sure there are hardcore audiophiles who would disagree). I hardly ever play them to loud, well maybe sometimes 🙂. I have compared them with the logitech Z560 and i thought that the klipsh sounded better. The midrange is pretty good when compared to other speakers. There are others that sound much better but they are extremely high priced.

If you can afford it, go for a pair of floorstanding speakers rather than a sub/sat system - they're practically guaranteed to have more balanced tonal characteristics. As long as you don't <want> boomy bass, they'll be fine at the low end as well. What are you planning to listen to with them?

Are you refering to Mission m74?
FLOORSTANDING SPEAKERS?

I give an example of a LOT better speakers than those. They may be great for home-thatre, but for music they would probably suck!

For that amount of money I would go for Triangle Comete, Epos M12, JMR Twins MkIII.
They cost less than the Mission m74 and deliver much more as far as music is concerned!

Oh My God. Have you got any idea? Have you sat in front of them before with music playing? Have they been hooked up to a quality amplifier while you listened to them?

Goodness me man, how can you say such a thing! LOL ... Omg I can't believe you said that. Jeez what is the world coming to....

trust me... if you want crystal clear, go with the BOSE Mediamate... they're really clear that you can notice differences in audio quality easily.

Bose seems to have a mixed opinions... when i talk to my buddies (audio enthiasts but not experts) they say "bose sucks, except for car audio designed for that car" I have to agree there, my audi's bose is incredible. But alot of people feel bose are over priced, so now i am skeptical.

Has anyone compared the kplisch to the bose?

not many people have the bose but I bought one and its super clear. Bose is known for their sound clarity.

All of these so-called speakers are not well suited to Music, as they lack a lot in the midrange area!

Would you mind pointing me to a test showing the lack of mids in the Klipsch 2.1s? Or perhaps, you have a copy of their frequency response curve you'd like to share. I can't seem to find anything to support your claim. Thanks,

Chum

Both get pretty good reviews... but a few years later the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 came out, are the Promedia truly the best? do they sound that amazing? I'm trying to decide what to upgrade to?

Currently using the Champagne Harmon Kardon setup.

I went from the ADA 880's to my home theatre setup (component based, Pioneer elite receiver+polk audio RM6300 sats+Polk sub) I then gave my speakers to my brother. He won't give them back, and i have since moved into a house, separating my pc from my theatre rig.

Are the klipsch really that good? Has anyone used both?

Thanks

I have had the promedia 4.1 and they are good but I upgraded to the logitech z-680's and the diffence is 1. better highs klipsch's are bright. 2. better mids 3. The bass is better. You have not said what sound card your using that also makes a diffence along with the wires. This is only my taste bring your mp3/cd player and a music set-up disc to the store and try it out there. Also the room and placement of the speakers make a big diffrence as well. For a pc based system these speakers are great and beat and cheapo speakers but promeadia has the new klipsch 5.1 ultra and I can't pass say if they are better so demo them for yourself. Also invest in some good banana plug wires.

I am running an Audigy 1. I only want 2.1 i do not want to invest in a 5.1 system. This is for mp3s and music only. (i have a home theatre setup in the other room)

I'm telling you... the Bose Mediamate are perfect for music, they have 2 inputs and they can mix between them and they're really space saving.

Headphones? I hate having headphones on, i use them when i have to, but its very anti-social, you can't hear the phone ring, and your ears sweat, also if you wear glasses, they never fit right.

Creative Megaworks 250D. Best midrange and most musical PC speakers among the major contenders. Not as loud at the topend vs Klipsch, but much warmer and cleaner/less boomy base. Price is decent at around $150 online.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

If you had ANY clue, you would know that the speakers I mentioned are FAR better options when music is concerned.
Triangle is a well known and high-end french company.
Epos, brought by Creek is from England
JMR is also a frnech company, that manufactures the AMAZING Twins MkIII!!!

Mission has become a company for the masses; Moreover tha model you have mentioned is not good for music. It is great for Home-Thatre though!

These cmpanies are well known in Europe, less known in America. I was driving the Triangle Comete by an Italian Integrated Amplifier, named Puccini by Audio Analogue, which is also a great amp!

Don't think that Mission is a High-End manufacturer in the world of audiophiles. It might been once, but no anymore.

BTW, even the speakers I mentioned are not considered extremely High-End; Jeff Rowland, Krell, Meridian, Wilson Audio, Martin Logan, Mark Levinson are far respectable.

I agree, not only for these reasons, but they sound AWESOME.

I compared them "side by side" with other models in Best Buy, and for the size, you're not going to do better. They sound simply amazing. Sure they cost more, but if you're that avid about music, I think it's well worth it.
